March 2024

Meetings: 1st WEDNESDAY at 6:30 pm –The Brat Stop, I94 & Hwy 50.

A big shout out to everyone who sacrificed all that extra time to organize and put on Officer’s Training. I have been to many of them, and I always come away learning something new. A huge effort by a relatively few people to make ABATE of Wisconsin better every year.

Hello again this month for the written description of our monthly meeting. Please consider joining us next month at The Brat Stop for our amazing live performance. After the reports and announcements, we got into a lively discussion of some of our Lobby Day topics. It has never been more important to belong to and become active in ABATE. We are facing very real threats to our motorcycling future, and you all need to get your non-member friends involved. One of these days has become today! We need to let our elected officials know that we will not stand by and let our choice of travel be eliminated in any form. Fuel choice legislation is at the top of our list this year at Lobby Day. Consumers should be able to purchase products with the type of power plant they determine is best for their needs. Battery and electric products are getting better and more powerful every year. However, they do not work in every environment and application across our wonderful country. I am smart enough to decide what I want to purchase and use in my personal life. How about you? This proposal protects all forms of power including Battery and Electric, Hydrogen and any other source that is invented. However, you should decide what you can afford and want to use. Protecting E-10 or less is vital to our existence. You should be aware that even accidentally filling up your bike with E-15 is not only dangerous to the machine, it violates federal law. We need to make sure that manufacturers provide us with tools, parts and technology that we can use when they decide to stop servicing older models. If you own anything other than the latest and greatest. You have already seen this occurring in some dealerships. We now hear that auto manufacturers may start selling your vehicles recorded data to third parties. Tired of robo calls? Just wait until your vehicle tells merchants all your traveling, shopping, recreation, etc., habits they are able to purchase through a third party, data mining company. We need to remain vigilant on these freedoms or we will lose them, folks. If you had to miss Lobby Day, get informed on these issues and contact your legislators on you own by phone, letter or email. It has never been more important.

April 20th is the tentative date for our Soup/Dessert Cookoff. Starts 12 Noon at The Beer Gardens, Kenosha.

Stay Free in the Wind.

Mike
