Steve informed members that Illinois is facing the possibility of a mandatory helmet law due to an increase in fatalities. This is a good reminder to use common sense and caution when riding and to look out for the well-being of other riders.

Michelle introduced Dave Kempka as our newest Area Rep. Thanks for taking on this role, Dave! Dave reports that the Junior Patriots are reaching out to regions for support of their goals through hosting kid-friendly events and fundraisers. They hope to raise funds to build a Junior Patriot House at ABATE Acres.

Dog and Brenda report that the Summer Long Run Committee has almost finished signing up establishments for this year’s run.

We have the opportunity to support Region 1G as a “foster region” as they work to rebuild their base and re-energize their members. We invite and encourage Region 1G members to attend our meetings and events.

Julie brought some new products back from Officer’s Training. If you see something you like, but it’s not in your size, Julie will reach out to other regions to try to find it for you. There is an order form in the newsletter for 50th Anniversary design products.

Come to the Region 1-H Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, March 23rd at the VFW Hall in West Bend (260 Sand Drive). Chili check-in is between noon and 1:30; with awards and raffle prize winners announced around 3:30 pm. Remember to bring your chili HOT because it may not be served if it is not hot enough. Cost is $5 at the door. There will be a 50/50 cash raffle, prize raffle, and meat raffle. Region 1-H Members – we need prizes for this event. Please bring them to the March meeting or contact Brenda, Cherie, or Michelle to arrange for pick up. We also need members to help with responsibilities such as checking in the pots of chili, collecting money for admission, and selling raffle tickets. Bars and/or cookies are needed the day of the event so we can offer a sweet treat to top off the chili.

Our 1G/1H Awareness rally is Saturday, May 4th starting in Grafton and ending in West Bend. We will meet at the Grafton US Bank parking lot on Hwy 60 and Port Washington Road from 9:30 to 11 am. We move to West Bend Buffalo Wild Wings parking lot on Paradise Drive to continue the rally between 11:30 and 1 pm.

On Saturday, May 11th, we have again been invited to set up a stand to sell food at Al’s Hideout in West Bend as they host their car show. A planning meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 16th at 7 pm at Al’s Hideout.

Consider attending the 14th Annual “Bikers Helping Bikers” Poker Run, scheduled for May 18th. The ride starts at the Union Riders’ Clubhouse (3601 Mayfield Road, Jackson) with check-in between 10:30 and Noon. Details to come.

We are considering creative themes for campsite decoration at this year’s Summer Hummer. If you have some great ideas, please be prepared to share them at the March meeting.

Our Summer Long Fun Run Party will be held at Sheryl’s Club 175 on Saturday, September 7th. Books will be available for $10 at the Chili Cook-Off on March 23rd. Plan to pick one up so you can start filling it with stamps!

The Randy & Janine Memorial Fish-O-Ree endured the challenge of unseasonably warm weather at this year’s event on January 20th. Thanks to all who came to Nuckleheadz to help run and support the event. Special thanks to Dan Small for his guest appearance! More than $2,230 was raised to be donated to ABATE for promotion of awareness activities.

Cherie has Advance Summer Hummer tickets ($35 per member) and tickets for the statewide Summer Cash Raffle to be held at the Summer Hummer on June 22nd. Raffle tickets are $20 each with only 500 printed. $5,700 will be paid out across twenty prizes ranging from $1,500 to $50. All money and ticket stubs must be turned in by the June meeting so they can be submitted on time.

It’s a good time to purchase tickets for the 50th Anniversary Raffle to be held at the Summer Hummer on June 22, 2024. Three prizes will be drawn, and all include a guest room for two nights, two tickets for the Saturday Night Banquet Meal, two 50th anniversary coins, and $50 to spend at the Anniversary Celebration the second weekend of October in Madison. These tickets will be available through the June 2024 meeting.

With warm wishes as we welcome spring~
