Summer Hummer Update
By The Summer Hummer Committee

If you're not already making plans to attend the 2017 ABATE of Wisconsin Summer Hummer -- we're hoping you'll continue reading and start planning! The committee has been working on this year's event since last June planning and setting up the event for your enjoyment. And to top it off, it's at your place: that's right, ABATE Acres is your land and this party's for you.

Dates for this year's event are Thursday June 15 til Sunday, June 18. Admission prices are still the same bargain price they were last year: ABATE member tickets - $25 in advance (payment must reach us by June 6) or $30 at the gate. Saturday only passes are $20 for those who can't make it for the whole weekend (Saturday passes include camping if you want/need to stay the night.) Non-member tickets are $50 in advance or $55 at the gate. Your gate pass includes camping on the grounds, music, and fellowship with like-minded biker brothers and sisters. Now here's what you can expect ...

When you arrive at ABATE Acres and enter the main gate you will be greeted by the front gate minions where you'll receive your wristband, event schedule, and map of the grounds. They can also tell you where to find various areas of interest such as the bar, bathroom/showers, vendor row, etc.

Once you're inside the gate then all you need to do is to find a spot to set up camp. Many regions camp as a group and fly their regional flag so look for them and you'll be good to go. If you have medical needs that require electricity, security can escort you to an area with electric hook-ups (there will be a $10 charge for electric hook-up.) Please be prepared to NOT run your RV AC unit off these hook-ups as they're not wired for that kind of draw.

We also have fire rings and picnic tables for rent at the main gate on a first-come first served basis. Twit and his crew will deliver them to your campsite after you order and pay for them at the front gate. We provide the wood so don't transport any of your own: leave the Ash Borers at home.

Once camp is set up the first stop for many attendees is the bar building for ice, soda, water, or fermented beverage. The bar is also where you can buy chips for drinks or you can buy your 2017 Cash Raffle tickets is you haven't already done so ... or if you have and just want more chances.

Attached to the bar building is the ABATE Products and Fashion emporium where Dawn and Stephanie and their helpers can update your ABATE wardrobe and accessories.

Perhaps your main reason for attending is musical entertainment? Well, Thursday night starts it off with music by Tuck Pence under the tent. Friday we have two acts for you. The music kicks in late evening with In the Grove and they are followed by Spicy Tie Band into the night.

Saturday is also a two act day starting with Bobby Evans and the Alimony Blues Band and finishing up with Lukyn Skyward: you won't be disappointed! When the band takes their break Saturday evening the winners of the 2017 Cash Raffle will be drawn along with other announcements and a few surprise activities.

Maybe you want to participate in or just watch the bike games and silly-biker- people games such as the board-walk, helmet toss, slow race, or beer-bobbing to name a few. Check the on-site schedule for times and location. If you're a decibel fanatic we have a loud pipes contest.

Want to show off your ride? There is a bike show open to all makes and models on Saturday near the bar building.

Are you new to ABATE or the Hummer or just want to meet new friends? Twit's Mingle Hunt is made for you. It's a type of Trivial Pursuit with questions about some of your fellow ABATE members that will require you to mingle with them to ask people for answers you don't already know yourself. At the same time you can participate in the Regional Poker Walk and become a beverage aficionado by visiting various region's campsites, sample their offered beverage and vote for your favorite.

If going on a ride on Saturday sounds good, we'll be starting out with a Bike Blessing Saturday morning and then the group will leave for an organized ride to the Highground Veterans' Memorial Park as well as local poker run that you can sign-up for an complete at your own pace.

Do we have any exhibitionist members out there? At 10:30 Saturday night Boyd will present this year's Anatomy Contest. We provide the t-shirts, you provide the scenery. Your fellow members provide the prize money when we pass around the donation boxes. Please contribute, the mammalian protuberances will thank you. For the "other side" of the entertainment world we will be offering a best-of-the-butts contest on Friday evening between the bands.

All this fun cannot just magically happen. How do we do it? With the help of members like you. Please sign up to work a 4 hour shift or two at any of the departments listed below: just call or email the contact person to sign up. Work a 4 hour shift anywhere on site and receive a coupon good for $5 of "ABATE Bucks" which you can use at the event for products or the bar (up to a maximum of $20 worth of coupons as our thank you for your help!)

There you have it. Many regions have advance tickets for sale at their local meetings or use the order form in this insert to order them from our State Office. Get your tickets, and make plans to party with us at YOUR property -- ABATE Acres at this year's Summer Hummer. See you there!
