Next Meeting -- Wed., July 11, 7:00 p.m.
at Papa's Bar & Grill, 2697 State Road 64 in
Forrest
Rick G. oversaw the June meeting at Cricket's in
Mitch's absence. Motion made, seconded and passed
to accept secretary's report for May.
Lots of chip sealing going on around the region so
be careful. Be sure to read your newsletter for
legislative updates. Gunny's report (given by Rick
G.) was extremely thorough, but a little too
lengthy to include here. Products at the state
level is being studied by a committee for possible
restructuring.
Discussion held as to whether or not to pull the
motorcycle awareness signs. We chose to leave the
yard signs up to keep motorcycles in the mind of
everyone since these signs don't relate strictly
to motorcycle awareness month.
Motion made, seconded and unanimously passed to
give Mitch $50 toward the knife he is donating for
the Trail's End Mid-Summer Party auction. The
knife is being donated on behalf of Region 7A. Sue
will bring tickets to the party that were donated
to our region. Roxann will be donating beads for
sale. Our region will be helping with the auction,
selling 50/50 tickets and also selling chances to
hose the wet t-shirt contestants. A schedule
will be available at the event. Sounds like this
will be quite the party, so be sure to mark your
calendars for July 13-15 at Trail's End in
Fairchild.
Ballots were handed out and voting was done for
district director. Sue will mail the ballots to
the state. The election for Region 7A will be held
at the September meeting. Please watch this column
for the final date, time and location.
Rick B. reported that the ditch cleanup with the
New Richmond students went very well. They work
faster than we do and listen to good music! Thanks
to this great group!
Motion made, seconded and unanimously passed to
keep up on the status of Gary Brecht, currently
hospitalized in very serious condition following
surgery, and send a card as warranted. Gary is a
former regional rep for 7A. (Editor's note:
I am sad to report that Gary was lost to us right
before this issue went to print. Our sympathies to
Gary's family and the many in ABATE that
counted Gary as friend and family.)
Next meeting is July 11 at Papa's in Forrest.
August meeting will be at Gem's Steakhouse in
Deadwood, SD Wed., Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. Other upcoming
events include:
July 13-15 - Trail's End Mid-Summer Party in
Fairchild, WI; Aug. 4 - Bikes 4 Veterans ride,
dinner and live music at VFW Club 305, 1300 Starr
Ave., Eau Claire. Donations benefit the Veterans
Homeless Shelter in Chippewa Falls. Cost is $20
rider and $10 passenger.
Hope everyone is enjoying the summer and we'll see
you at the meetings!
