It’s So Much More Than That

Well, one more Summer Hummer is over. Many members think of the Hummer as only a party. No argument from me. It is a party and a great one. But I know the Summer Hummer is so much more than that. It gives our members a chance to network with people we don’t see on a regular basis. It also brings in thousands of dollars to help offset the day-to-day expenses of running ABATE. I want to thank all of the department heads and the volunteers that make the Hummer possible. Nothing just happens by itself, from cleaning the bathrooms to booking the bands. It’s all done by volunteers. I want to give a special thanks to Worm. He had a face-to-face on his motorcycle with a deer just before the Hummer. Suffering injuries that would keep most of us home, he worked very hard to make sure things were taken care of. That’s the type of person that makes ABATE work as well as it does. That takes dedication.

Now, something you may not know about the Hummer. It is one of the best tools we have for recruitment. Here are some numbers to think about. From the Gate: We signed up 1 new life member, 19 new couple members, 27 renewal members, and 65 new members. Yes, I said 65 new members. No matter how you look at it, The Summer Hummer is an important part of ABATE. Support it. Join us over the next 12 months to plan for the next one – 2023.
