Safety Report - March 2025

Krissy Bowe
Gary Klinker

After a successful Spring Kick-off, Safe Rider training, and BOD meeting we are on the way to an exciting new season. Last year we trained 238 students in the BRC and 36 in the BRC2. This year we are implementing a new registration and reporting system. By the time you read this it should be completely implemented. The schedule for 2025 classes can be found in this issue of the Newsletter. Go to the ABATE website for registrations and information.

Due to a conflict with the US Army our Rider Coach candidate Brandon will be attending class in July rather than June. We look forward to working with him then. We are all updated on our CPR and First Aid certifications. We are looking at a new training bike for this year. Stay tuned, we may have a bike or two for sale.

In February I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Mecum motorcycle auction in Las Vegas. It is the best bike show you can imagine. 2000 motorcycles in one location are hard to believe. The one-hundred-year-old, or more are very interesting. For me the best part was seeing all the bikes I grew up with. Even better, the ones I owned.

As Spring gets closer it is time to plan for some training to brush up your skills. Think about a BRC2 or attending the Region 1F Knock the Rust Off event. Make sure the bike is ready mechanically and you are ready mentally. Since single bike fatalities are one of our biggest problems, it is up to all of us to be careful and watch out for our fellow riders. Ride within your limits and stay sober. Party when parked. Those simple steps will save lives and keep the government out of our lives.

Ride Safe,

Gary
