14th Annual Randy and Janine Ice Fisheree

Well, well, well what a difference cold weather makes when holding an ice fishing contest. The 14th Annual Randy and Janine Memorial Ice Fisheree took place on January 18th, 2025, and a good time was had by all. Held at Nuckleheadz Bar and Grill on beautiful Little Cedar Lake in West Bend, the ice was thick, and the fish were hitting hard.

The event was started back in the day by Ralph Schneider and Tim Sutter along with lots of friends of Randy and Janine. If you have never heard, Randy and Janine were killed in a right of way crash in Washington County that I followed through the system. The Fisheree started off being held at Pier 144 before being moved to its present location, Nuckleheadz Bar and Grill. Randy loved to ice fish and shared that love with young people that wanted to learn and enjoy ice fishing. In honor of Randy and Janine the crew decided to hold an ice Fisheree, and the money raised would be donated to an organization or group. Ralph and crew, not knowing where to go with the money raised, contacted Goofy who at the time was Regional Rep in Sheboygan County. Goofy put them in touch with me. The money donated was only to be used to raise motorcycle awareness. It has been a fun time the last 14 years raising money to buy banners and billboard space that reminds people to “Look for Motorcycles.”

This year was again successful. Meat raffles were held throughout the day along with a couple of 50/50 raffles raising some cash to be donated to ABATE of Wisconsin. There was also a raffle held for donated items that everyone working the event collected ahead of time. During the day in the bar area, were members of Washington County 1H that donated their time to make this event a success.

A quick thank you to the many groups that donated the raffle prizes. Fleet Farm has supported this event for a long time, donating items along with a large Gift Card. Others donating items were restaurants, auto maintenance shops, and pizza locations.

Kevin Meanor again donated a supply of Johnsonville brats that were cooked throughout the day and made for a delicious meal or snack.

Thanks again to Ralph, Michelle Schommer and Luke Bostwick for helping out on the ice. Thank you to Nuckleheadz for hosting the event and donating buns and paying the prize money for the winning fish. Thank you to all that came from Region 1H - Boyd, Sally, Dog, Michelle, Steve, Cherie along with Laurie Thompson to write the checks and take care of the paperwork. I am sure I am missing many people, so thank you to all that were there supporting the bar and especially the event.
