Meetings: Third Sunday – See Text

ABATE Region 4C March Meeting 2024. Kay Johnson in Pogie’s absence, CTO at 1 pm. Tom Babbitt led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for our downed brothers and sisters.

Rainy gave the membership update. She has signed up about 20 new members so far. Jake S. joined us for the first time as an ABATE member, welcome Jake. Joker has also been helping Rainy. Thanks go to you both!

Paul read the February minutes with no additions or corrections. MMS to accept as read by Dave and Skip.

Tom B. read the Treasurer’s report, accounts are up to date.

ABATE is considering offering free accidental life insurance through American Life. Most all our members agree to take advantage of this.

Shannon K. gave the Legislative report. He spoke of the black box issue, premium fuel availability, and profiling. Insurance companies are very interested in the contents of the box. Our legislators will reconvene in the fall. It would be a good idea to contact them during their summer break. Talk about our issues and get their views. Let them know how important these issues are to us. Their aides are our representatives’ ears. They will be looking for votes this fall. Illinois has a helmet issue. The powers that be, snuck it through on another bill. Any help from other ABATE States would be appreciated.

The Hummer is only 3 months away. Kay urged members to let her know where members have put up posters. That way we won’t be doubling our efforts.

Old business: The 4C bowling tournament was a success. Our region was able to donate $728.23 to the Clark County Humane Society. Chuck Wager was very happy to get this help. He also gave a tour of their facility. More about this in the newsletter.

Orders for 4C regional t-shirts were taken by Kay.

New Business: 4C car show dated August 24 was discussed. It will take place at Cal’s in Rock Dam. Tom and Pogie are trying to incorporate past dash plaques on the trophies. If anyone has any contact Tom or Pogie. More discussion at April meeting.

We have a new Fun Run planned for Clark and Taylor counties. It will have 16 stops and will run from May 1st to Aug 10th.

Kay has raffle tickets for the Hummer and car show, as well as Hummer posters.

Dates to remember: Land warming May 17-19; Summer Hummer June 22-24; Family camping August 9-11; 50th Anniversary celebration + State meeting Oct 11-13; Land closing Oct 18-20.

Next meetings at 1 pm: April 21, Back 40 in Lublin. May19, Brickyard in Neillsville.

MMS to adjourn by Julie D and Lori T. at 2 pm.

Respectfully submitted by Paul Schmidt
