“In my defense, I was left unsupervised.”- A common excuse. Don’t use it in court.
Greetings one and all. You know you don’t need any excuse to attend the ABATE of WI, Inc. annual State Rally, The Summer Hummer. However, you may need one to explain why to your friends if you don’t go. The Hummer runs this year from Thursday June 13th through Sunday June 16th and, as always, will prove to be a great get together with all your freedom loving friends.
The gate opens at noon on Thursday June 13th. Prices are: Advanced $25 for a member, $50 for a non-member. Use the order form in your newsletter to acquire your advanced weekend pass. Prices at the gate are $30 for a member, $55 for a non-member. a one-day pass is $20 for all. The helpful people working the gate can also renew your membership or sign you up if you’re not yet a member of the Best State Motorcyclists’ Rights Organization in the country. Also, available at the gate are weekend programs with a map of the grounds. Fire rings and picnic table rentals are also available on a first come, first served basis. We have firewood for purchase on site, so you do not need to bring your own.
ABATE Acres is in Clark County roughly halfway between Greenwood and Thorp.
Whether you are camping alone or with a group, there is a weekend long contest for the best campsite theme. See what the fertile imaginations of your fellow members have come up with and vote for your favorite.
Probably one of your first stops on the grounds after setting up will be the bar building where you can purchase ice, water, soft drinks and beer. There is also an ATM inside as well as an antenna booster to help with cell phone reception. Next to the bar room in the BOD meeting room, is where you will find ABATE Products for sale.
Abate Acres boasts a modern shower/bathroom building just across from the bar.
If you get there on Thursday and you’re feeling a little lonely, why not enter into “The Dating Game” being presented by Stephanie from products. Also Thursday night will be the lighting of the big bonfire and biker favorite recorded tunes.
Friday will include a Bikini Bike Wash from 1 to 5 pm – just to get the gravel dust off your bike. There will be Barstool Races, Beer Bobbing and a Kornhole Tournament to keep you occupied and burn off some beverage calories. The musical entertainment under the tent Friday evening kicks off with Your Mom-The Band followed by Back Alley Kings.
Saturday is a full day of biker fun. The Kornhole Tournament finishes up. There will be a Loud Pipes Contest, a Bike Show, a Tattoo Contest, Bike Games, more Beer Bobbing and more Barstool Races. Once the evening rolls around there’s live music starting out with Blues Tortured Souls and finishing up the evening with Hyde.
Between bands, the winners of the campsite theme contest, Kornhole Tournament, weekend raffles and Statewide Cash Raffle will be announced.
Besides all of the above to keep you busy, don’t forget there are also food and merchandise vendors to help settle your shopping jones or fill you up.
