Dear Cuz,
I’m kinda new to this motorcycling organization and I’m a little shy about asking questions. I don’t like to speak up in front of people at the meeting because I don’t want to feel like a dumb aXX, but sometimes a person’s just gotta ask. Who do I get a hold of to get answers to my questions?
A little Green and a lot Perplexed
Dear G and P,
This is a great question because some of our old-time members don’t always know the answer to this one. The organization is structured so our mighty leader, Chubby can have a life too. By that I mean there has been some thought put into who you approach with the simple questions within ABATE of WI – an organizational chart, for lack of a better word. At the top of the chart is the Executive Director. The questions that go to him are only those that can’t be answered at a lower level or by other people our members are in contact with on a more regular basis. General members can begin finding out answers to their questions by asking their Regional Representative either at a meeting or not…Regional Rep contact information can be found in the newsletter each month if you are can’t make a meeting. If the Regional Rep does not have an answer, he or she would contact the District Director for their District (we have eight Districts in our state). If the District Director cannot answer the question, the District Director will pose the question to the Deputy Director – or the committee head that would have information available pertaining to your particular request. This could be the Legislative Director if it is about legislation, the Membership Director if it is about membership, the State Treasurer if it is about treasury, the Products Director if it is about products, and so on. If the heads of those departments are still in a dilemma, then they would approach Chubby. Don’t get me wrong. Chubby loves to talk to people and explain the inner workings of the organization to anyone who asks him – and the great part about talking to Chubby is he listens. It’s just that there are a lot of ABATE members throughout the state and a lot of questions to answer. So, it’s a time thing. Hope this answers your question. Never be afraid to ask because that’s how we get better at what we do, and someone will always find you the right answer. And, if you don’t ask, you won’t know.
