Here we sit in the slow days of winter. The ice and snow prevent even a cold weather ride. The 2020 Safe Rider schedule is posted, and we already have a registration. Much of the paperwork is done or close to it. If you are interested in a class don’t delay if you want good choices. As always, if a region would like a BRC2 class of their own with six members we can set up a date that is not on the schedule.
February is always a busy month. The ABATE officer training is fast approaching. The Wisconsin Motorcycle Safety Program Spring Kick-off comes soon after, and then the Safe Rider Board meeting. It all helps to keep things focused until the real riding season gets here. With the good winter we have had so far, make sure your bikes are ready for Spring. It may get here early.
If you would allow me some latitude here, I’d like to put on my ABATE board member hat for a bit. Please take some time and fill out and send the land survey which has been in the past couple issues. It gives your board direction in what you, the members, want us to do. Talk about it at your regional meeting so your reps know how the members feel about issues. ABATE needs to keep improving our financial position. A lot of this is dependent on the region’s activities. When planning an event, the focus should be on making a profit, not just having an event. The board recently made changes to the policy on charitable events. There are plenty of good causes out there to support, but our first priority should be ABATE and supporting our freedoms. Attend your local meetings. Get to know your Regional Reps and Board members. Tell them what you expect from them and where you would like to see this organization be in the next few years. We need your input and participation. Thanks for listening.
Ride Safe,
Gary
