There was a big Summer Hummer “Reveal” at Officer’s Training last month. For those of you who weren’t there to hear it firsthand, the Hummer committee is trying something new. On Saturday afternoon we will be hosting a “Taste of Summer at the Hummer”. In other words, there will be a beer, wine, cheese and meat tasting under the Big Top. The cost to get into the tasting is $20.00 plus a $20.00 gate pass. If you are already there for the weekend you only pay the $20.00 to get into the tasting under the tent. These types of tasting events are happening all over the Midwest and we are bringing it to the Hummer! Over the next few months there will be an advertising push – and word of mouth is an excellent way to let everyone know about it, so Let’s. Be. Loud! We want to attract, as many people to this event as possible and get it to grow. The beer, wine, cheese and meat vendors will also be pushing this event at their local establishments asking their customers to come to the Hummer for the tasting. A win – win situation. Our goal is to get some new faces at the Hummer, so people can see what a premium facility we have for our Rally. This is, after all, our biggest fundraiser of the year…. it’s not just a party, but there is a lot of fun to be had. If any of our members know of a local craft brewery, winery, cheese or meat shop that they think would be a great fit for the Taste of Summer, please contact Rebel at 414.640.6125 (cell) or Ronhog1@aol.com (email).
After the tasting we can all settle in and listen to the sounds of ZZ Top. We have been able to secure the band “Eliminator” as our Saturday night feature band. This is a ZZ Top cover band that is phenomenal. They have a huge following and have played in the Midwest including at the Twister and ABATE of Iowa’s Freedom Rally. Go to their website and check them out at: eliminatorband.com. Anyone coming to the tasting has already purchased a day pass which means they qualify to stay for our Saturday night entertainment. That is more than awesome! A Taste of Summer at the Hummer AND the sounds of ZZ Top to cap it all off.
Rebel has also offered to provide a shuttle service to some local hotels for those of us that can’t do the camping thing anymore. His “skoolie” bus holds up to 30 people and is available all day and into the night on Friday and Saturday – 6/19 and 6/20. The shuttle will service an area from Cadott to Abbotsford area hotels (6 hotels) As the event gets closer a pick up schedule will be announced.
Area hotels include: Fair Bridge Inn & Suites, Thorp; Abby Inn, Abbotsford; Rodeway Inn, Abbotsford; Home Motel, Abbotsford; AmeriVu Inn & Suites, Abbotsford; and Countryside Motel, Cadott. Make your reservations early!
There may be a few more surprises coming up regarding the Hummer, so be sure to pay attention, get your advanced tickets and be ready to rock & roll!
Be sure to talk up this event wherever you go. Let’s get members, friends and relatives from every region to experience the 2020 Hummer.
One other thing. The Twister party is not being scheduled this year, so if you know of anyone who usually went to the Twister, invite them to the Hummer. We have 80 acres to fill up!
