Nice weather is finally getting here. Bikes are coming out of storage and getting on the road. That means it’s time to get yours. What does that mean? Every member of ABATE of Wisconsin should sign up one new member in the next few months. I can’t even explain how important that would be. Politicians and do-gooders that want to plan our future for us will think twice if we have the numbers to make a difference. If you have been reading the articles in the newsletter you will see the future they have planned for us is not the same future we are looking forward to ourselves. The more members we have, the better chance we have to keep our way of life. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to ride an electric bike during the hours they tell me I can ride or be told that I can be restricted to riding on certain roads. Not saying electric bikes are bad, they’re just not for me. As you can tell I’m a bit old-school and am in the final stages of building my own trike with a 4.3-liter GM engine, etc. I know that doesn’t fit into their plan for me. Maybe that’s why I did it. If you want to keep this kind of freedom, get yours. Get your new member. I got mine!

Things are starting to settle down with the transition to Wild Apricot, the new membership computer program that we are using now, but just as a reminder that if you have any problems, let me know. We also have a new ABATE contact phone number: (262) 402-0593. The old number will work for the next few months, but let’s start the transition to this new number. When you sign up your new member, be sure to let them know about the new phone number.

As you burn the cobwebs off of your bike this spring, be safe. Give your bike a good checkup and enjoy the road. Remember if you want to ride how, when and where you want to, get yours. Get that new member, then be there for them after they join. Help them learn what we have learned – ABATE means freedom.

I encourage all of you to attend the Summer Hummer this year and attend as many ABATE events as you can. Get your motorcycle awareness rallies going. My region, 7C, will hold our awareness rally during the Spring Flood Run which takes place along the Mississippi River. We will be set up promoting ABATE at the Jailhouse Saloon in Trempealeau on April 17th from 10 – 2 pm. Stop by if you’re in the area.

In the meantime,
Ride Safe, Ride Free, Ride with ABATE.

Bill
