Whew, the Hummer may be over, but your committee is already hard at it tying up some loose ends and starting to gear up for next year. We had an extremely productive committee meeting in July and the feedback – both good and bad – from our members was welcomed. We build on experience and learn from our mistakes. There are definitely some things we need to improve on and some things we need to continue doing on a bigger and better scale. Thank you for all input we received. If you have things you want to see done, please be sure to let us know by emailing:

First and foremost, we are starting to look at bands. If you have any recommendations regarding who you would like to hear at the Hummer, now’s the time – but let us know soon as the costs need to be budgeted for and contracts need to be lined up. We would like to have our entertainment lineup finalized and committed to by the end of August.
We will also be starting up our 2022 Sponsorship program within the next month. If you have suggestions there too, about a company you think might be willing to sponsor the Hummer, either give us their contact information, or get them a sponsorship application yourself. Sponsorships need to be in before December 1st so we have time to place their names on our advertising brochures and flyers which will be distributed the 2nd week in January 2022. (Officer’s Training is taking place in January next year instead of February, so that means our Hummer information distribution schedule has been moved up 6 weeks from prior years). Remember that small sponsorships add up, so don’t be afraid to approach anyone who may be in a position to help us out. The more sponsorship money we can bring in, the more activities we can offer our attendees.
One major suggestion we heard was to spread out our activities between Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (this is a three-day event), and the committee is looking long and hard at the logistics of doing that. We are also interested in looking for a multitude of different vendors. Again, if you know of a vendor that would be a good fit for us, be sure to have them contact us. We are compiling a varied list of vendors to contact so they can get the Hummer on their 2022 calendars.
As you can see, there are a lot of things happening behind the scenes. With a little bit of luck and a drop in lumber prices, we might even have a permanent band shelter to look forward to in 2022. A lot of exciting things are happening, and some of that excitement comes from the “buzz” we hear from our members. Keep talking it up!
Be sure to use ABATE Acres during the rest of the summer. It is an awesome place to hang and a good destination for your ride. It just might give you the opportunity to think about what you would like to see next June when Hummer 2022 comes alive.
