The Land Committee is still working on the Pavilion project. It is somewhat at a standstill until we receive our state approved plans and can seek a comprehensive bid. The build will not take place before Summer Hummer 2022. There just is not enough time to get it built the way it needs to be. However, we are hopeful that if we raise enough additional funds and we get our approved plans soon, we will be able to start construction late summer or early fall so it would be in place for 2023.
Obviously, our original thought process on the money amount we would need to raise fell short. It was decided that if the structure is going to last, we need to build it to withstand not only snow, but also wind shear. That means the structure needs to be built a little heavier than expected. The land committee is doing this with the thought that at some time in the future ABATE may want to enclose the building. In that case we are looking at it being able to withstand wind gusts.
With those thoughts in mind, we need to raise a minimum of an additional $35,000. Let’s make a big push so when ABATE is ready to start construction, the funds are available to us. I know it can be done. I’ve seen it before.
“If we build it, they will come.” Please keep sending in your generous donations to Laurie Thompson marked “Pavilion Fund.” Questions? Contact Robert “Worm” Grasse at (920) 912-1789 or robert.grasse59@gmail.com.
