It’s that time of year again. Fresh starts, clean slates, maybe some New Year’s resolutions. 2022 was a challenging year for many of us personally. Let’s move forward and look to the future!
Since most of us are spending a great deal more time inside these days thanks to Mother Nature, this is the perfect opportunity to do some reading and research. Hopefully, you are signed up for the ABATE of WI and MRF email alerts. If not, go to their respective websites and sign up. This is a great way to stay informed on the latest news and potential legislation that may affect our way of life.
The MRF has an amazing resource that is underutilized–the MRF A&E website. A&E stands for Awareness and Education. Go to www.mrfae.org to check it out! The home page hasn’t been updated yet since we recently lost our beloved Chairperson, Deb Butitta. But the wealth of information that is on that site is amazing. And fortunately, Lane Triplett of Idaho has stepped up to be the new Chairman. He often presents at Meeting of the Minds and has a multitude of skills to share.
On the A&E website, there are articles and videos in the Awareness and Education Library that are available for anyone to use. Some of those videos are very powerful. And there are quite a few to choose from. There are also an abundance of safety and presentation related articles, including “With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility,” “How Do You Get to Carnegie Hall?”, and “You Don’t Need a Weatherman to Know Which Way the Wind Blows”. There are articles on braking, turning, apexes, swerving, rider posture, and so much more. I highly encourage you to take some time to check the website out.
The annual Heartland STEAM conference is coming up April 21-22 in Bismarck, ND. There is a flyer and registration form in this newsletter with more details. If you are interested in attending on scholarship, reach out to Steve Panten or myself for more information. If you are interested in carpooling, also reach out to us, as it is a long drive.
After STEAM comes Bikers in the Beltway, our national motorcyclists’ lobby day. We will descend on Washington DC May 15 & 16th. Stay tuned for more details coming up.
As always, stay vigilant, my friends!
