Can you feel the thunder? Can you see the lightning? The Summer Hummer is edging closer and closer. The bands are set and ready to play. Remember we have a really great line up of music set for this year. Appearing this year, Tuck Pence, Six Pack Sammy and The Spicy Tie Band to finish up the weekend.
You may have thought you paid for the whole seat but you sitting on the edge, right? But wait… there’s so much more!
Friday morning with the help of “Rebel” Gasser and “Little Mikey” Mueller we have the masters of the BBQ Grills, Mad Dog and Merrill are bringing their grilling magic to the “hummer”. So, throw your chair to the side and get ready to be entertained with these two masters of the grill. The beat on the street according to my informants is they are planning to cook it up and film at about nine am Friday morning. We are also setting up some filler pieces of all the fun going on at this event, your State Party the Summer Hummer. Chubby saw the grille masters down in Milwaukee at another event and these guys are pumped to be here. So, plan on being there by Friday morning early so you can be part of this fun event. If you’re not coming for the whole weekend, but would like to see this, a day pass will be required at the gate. But why would you just spend one day at your land? Twenty-five dollars will get you in for the weekend. Check out to the party schedule later in this report and see all we have planned to keep you well entertained each day!
Friday and Saturday evening, we will also be having bar stool races, and at the last committee meeting I heard they were going to let able bodied spectators give the “stools” a try around the track. Well, for whatever reason they won’t let Worm try it again (Editor’s note – because he always wins – smile…)
What else is going on you’re asking yourself? Well we have the tattoo contest again so if you have some really great body art or will have by June, plan on entering this event for bragging rights for your design and to show off the skills of your artist. Hoggie and John will be setting up the “Low and Slow” along with the Loud Pipes contest Saturday morning. Bring your bike over to the tent pull the baffles and see what kind of pain you can put everyone’s ears through.
We also have Scottie-too-Hottie and his band of mischief makers setting up for the bike games. We are also looking for those lady riders to show off their skills on the grass. Out on the grass, weaving through some cones or trying to snag that little stuffed animal with a net is great fun, and the competition is fierce for this. Practice up at home before the event and let’s have some fun showing off all your skills.
Replacing the Poker Walk – the committee has opened it up to your imagination with a “Hospitality Award. ” Judges will be watching along with a People’s Choice Award for the campsite with the best hospitality – what will you do to make visitors welcome? Set up that really nice camp site and open your hearts, or whatever you can entice with, and see if you can win the traveling award to hang at your camp site next year. (Participation not required.)
Still not enough for you? Remember the Ride to the High Ground! A very special place near the land that honors those that served, fought and died for us. If you never have been there it is a great place to go, look and honor those who served.
Tom Babbitt also is just about done setting up a “few county tour” that will be available for all to participate starting May first and finishing up at the “hummer”. It will be a PDF off of the ABATE of Wisconsin website and participants should be able to grab enough stops to make a great chance to win some money at a drawing. Watch this newsletter for details of this local fun run ending at the Summer Hummer in next month’s newsletter.
Yes, there is a Summer Hummer exclusive t-shirt available again this year. There is an order form and picture of the shirt in the newsletter. The product girls are asking for pre-orders, making it easier to have the correct size and style you are looking for available for you to pick up at the event. They will have a few extra shirts printed but if you are there looking and they don’t have it and you want it, well your outta luck. Order it ahead of time – see the order form on page 4 of this newsletter!.
Remember Land Warming May 18-20th with the BOD meeting on the 20th. To have a successful event we want the grounds looking good. Give Worm and Pat along with everyone else that shows up a hand. This is a lot of fun and laughs getting this ready to go.
Till next month,
