As you can see, we are well on our way to a completed building. At the time of this writing the only thing left to be completed by Brickl Brothers are the installation of the gutters. ABATE will be responsible for the landscaping surrounding the building, which will not amount to much. Just smoothing out the ground surrounding the posts that were put in and getting it ready for use. Once the building is finally completed the Cornerstone Wall will be built. Will it be done and complete before the Hummer? Don’t know. ABATE is still in the process of “selling bricks” to offset the balance of the building construction and the building of the wall itself.
Those of you who have been reading these updates already know that the land committee, along with all ABATE members, are still committed to paying for this building in full by donations received. As of now there is a shortfall, but we have a solution. Continue to fundraise until we reach our goal. Just because the building is close to being completed doesn’t mean that our work or fundraising is done. This was a major project that will save us money each year going forward from not having to rent a tent for the Hummer. Just think about it. We have rented a tent for the Hummer every year that we had the event at the land – 18 years, since 2005. This was one of the largest expenses of the Summer Hummer. The land committee is also exploring different avenues of using the Pavilion to generate income and have already had some inquiries for the use of the building during the off-season.
For those of you that don’t attend Board Meetings and don’t know or haven’t already heard, the total cost of the Pavilion and the Cornerstone Wall construction comes in at around $141,000. As of January 16, 2023, we have raised $105,035 leaving us an additional $35,965 to raise. So…keep dropping your change at your meetings to turn in at the Summer Hummer, buy a brick, or have some Pavilion specific events in your region. It would be a monumental announcement at this year’s Hummer if we could say that the Pavilion is paid for. It takes a village and the generosity of our members….to build a Pavilion.
Do you want future generations of ABATE members to see how committed you are? Buy a brick and leave your name on the wall for future generations of motorcycle rights activists to see. The order form is on page 3.
Thank you for all of your efforts and hard work to make this project come to fruition. ABATE could not do it without all of you.
Please forward any questions about the project to the Land Development committee.
