In our continued effort to inform every biker about the Motorcycle Riders Foundation, Becky Zarling and I walked the entire camp at the Summer Hummer and acquired 18 brand new members to the MRF and renewed another 22. Bob “Rooster” Christopherson helped in these efforts while simultaneously working the Products booth on Saturday. Great job guys!
We will be promoting both ABATE of WI and the MRF at the Trails End Campground in Fairchild July 8 & 9th and at the Rosholt Bike Fest July 22nd. We will also be at various locations and campgrounds during the Fall Ride in Tomahawk, Sept 14-17th.
If you are already an Assistant Rep, you are encouraged to assist at these events. If you are interested in becoming an Assistant State Rep, you are also encouraged to show up, contact me, and see what it’s all about.
If there are other events you want a representative at, please reach out to me and we will do our best to coordinate them.
Another MRF member is being inducted into the Sturgis Hall of Fame in August. Russell Radke is on the Motorcycle Riders Foundation’s board of directors as the Representative for Motorcycle Clubs, better known as the “Club Dude”. Congrats Russell!
We all know there’s strength in numbers and the MRF is doing an amazing job of increasing membership. We do this through promotions and friendly competition between states. We also do this by educating the membership at conferences and events so that everyone has the tools to share their passion and knowledge.
Our next big MRF conference is the annual Meeting of the Minds in Harrisburg, PA. This takes place September 21-24th. This is also where the results of the competition between states are revealed and currently, ABATE of WI is 2nd in the country. But IL is hot on our heels, as usual. So, let’s continue to kick ass and take names in the form of gaining more new members and renewing ones that are lapsed. There is an MRF membership application in every ABATE of WI newsletter so please fill it out and help us fight to ride free.
Meeting of the Minds is also when the MRF sets its legislative agenda for the upcoming year and decides what items we will be discussing with our federal legislators at Bikers in the Beltway the following May.
If you are interested in a scholarship to Meeting of the Minds, please contact Steve Panten. His info is on the front cover and the back page of every newsletter. While I haven’t seen the final agenda for MOTM yet, I do know that several board members from ABATE of WI will be leading by example by presenting at the conference.
If you are interested in helping promote the MRF or learning more about it, feel free to reach out to me via email, phone, or text.
Stay vigilant, my friends,
Jen
