Have you taken a look at what is left to raise for this project to be complete? ABATE of Wisconsin members and supporters should give themselves a worthy pat on the back. We are really getting close to the total funds needed to pay this off. A word of caution, though. Remember that we had an overrun on our original quote. That overrun ate into our estimate for complete funding. By that I mean, we allowed an estimate of +/- $3,000 in additional costs to build the Pavilion Cornerstone wall. This $3,000 was not in the original quote for the pavilion building itself but was figured in the total we felt we needed to raise. ABATE experienced an overrun on the original building construction which used some, if not all, of that $3,000 we had figured into our total.
Does that mean that we paid for the pavilion and now we are asking you to pay for the wall? NO. The funds to build the wall were paid for out of the $38,400 we raised from brick sales. What we’re saying is that we did not segregate donations we received for the Pavilion from donations we received from the sale of the Cornerstone Wall bricks. All donations went into the same pot, as did all expenses – the Pavilion Fund. So, as expenses came up and were invoiced, they were paid out of that Pavilion Fund and as donations and brick sales came in, they were added into that Pavilion Fund. The building overrun was paid at the time it was incurred and invoiced, which ultimately might leave us a little short in our estimate of paying for the wall foundation and any other incidental items that we may need to purchase to finish it. Remember that the construction of the wall itself and most of the additional materials needed to complete it are being donated by the owners of Craft Masonry who are Region 1H members. Let’s be sure to promote that business whenever we can.
So, to make a long story short, we are $2,875.26 away from our original financing goal of $144,843.00 for the pavilion. However, we will not know the final cost until all invoices are in and ready for payment. Will the $2,875.26 be enough? We hope so but let’s keep fundraising just in case it isn’t.
How do we do that?
We do exactly what we have been doing. Pass a Hat at your meeting. Buy a Pavilion bucket. You bought one already? The holidays are coming up. Fill the bucket with Wisconsin cheese, Maple Syrup, homemade candy, cookies, and a membership form and gift it to a relative or friend. Same thing goes for a Pavilion Mug. Pennies turn into dollars and dollars will turn into a Paid in Full Receipt. Thank you all for your support.
