Auntie ABATE / “Cuz” Report

From the Editor

It isn’t too often you can witness the old playing alongside the new, but I had a chance to witness this firsthand at last month’s ABATE of Wisconsin Family Campout. John Stumlin and Cheryl Sheridan, and their many ABATE cohorts sure did a great job of keeping our Junior Patriot’s, ABATE members, and other children guests busy and occupied for a fun filled weekend. Activities included fireworks and a big bonfire on Friday night, to a pancake breakfast, to marshmallow golf, a pie-eating contest, creating Motorcycle Awareness posters, a water balloon fight, movie night, popcorn and ice cream party, searching for coins in a sawdust (sand) pit, roasted corn on the man sized grill, and a pot luck dinner. Whew! That’s a lot. In between all these structured activities there was plenty of dirt bike and bicycle riding throughout the property. It was a pleasure to see these kids – our future – have so much fun and enjoy the freedom that our land has to offer them. Wide open spaces to run, ride, yell, learn, and have a good time.

Do you think when these youngsters grow up, they will remember what they experienced at ABATE Acres? Of course they will. That’s what is so great about this weekend. They’ll not only remember it, but they just may want to share it with their children and grandchildren too. What does that mean? Future Memberships!

If you have never had the opportunity to see what happens on a weekend like this, you shouldn’t miss it. The “Old” teaching the “Young.” It’s a great thing to see and experience for yourselves.
