I’m getting excited. Fall is approaching and it’s my favorite time of year. Not only does it get cooler, but the riding is also spectacular, and hunting season is almost here. Classes are winding down and next year is already in the planning stages.
August started out with our good friend and past MRF board member Gary Sellers stopping for the night on his way to Sturgis. He also spent a night the next week on his way home to Ohio. It’s always good to see him and catch up on events. He has a lot of history in the MRO arena. I always learn a lot just sitting and listening to him. I’m looking forward to seeing him again in September at the Meeting of the Minds. Speaking of that, you still have time to register and attend. Since it is in St. Louis this year it is close to most of us in Wisconsin. It is an amazing event for learning, meeting people like us from around the country, and getting charged up to fight for our rights and way of life. Shawn and I are planning to ride down along the Mississippi to go to the meeting. It’s a trip we took many years ago, so we are looking to see the changes along the way.
I also attended the Governor’s Highway Safety Conference at the end of August. I’ll report any information next month concerning our issues that come up there.
Now to the important political events. The Primary Elections are done so we all know who is running to represent us in the State Assembly, State Senate, and Congress, along with the US Senate. With the new districts you may have all new people in those positions. It is time to meet them, learn their stances on our issues, and support the candidates who will support us. A few bucks always help them out. Following that it is critical that you get out to vote. If you want gasoline for your motorcycle that will not wreck the engine, if you want to always have the choice for internal combustion engines, if you do not want to be forced to buy an electric bike or car, and if you would rather have money for your choices in life, rather than pay more in taxes you better do something about it. Vote!
In the meantime, get out and enjoy the riding. Be careful of deer moving and practice your skills with each ride.
Ride Safe,
Gary
