The land committee is PROUD to accept the challenge our membership. Was given. About a year ago the committee put out a questionnaire concerning the future development of ABATE ACRES. Instead of renting a tent year after year for the Summer Hummer fundraiser, the results of the questionnaire indicated that our membership would like to have a permanent structure/band shelter built. The comments on the questionnaire said no funding should come from the general fund, so we would need to have separate fundraising event to come up with the funds needed for a permanent shelter, similar to the Dan Frantz Fund that paid off the mortgage at ABATE Acres several years ago. Thanks to the members that sent the questionnaire in, some with a check included.
Back to the CHALLENGE that has been proposed to membership. Here’s part of a letter given to the committee from Josef “Mr. Wizard” Stanek.
“I will make the offer to our ABATE group that I will match 1:2, up to $10,000, for member donations to build the new Pavilion. For each $2 our other members donate, beyond what ABATE provides, I will add $1. For that donation, I would like to memorialize Brenda L. Stanek.”
The committee would like to give Josef Stanek a hand for bringing this proposal to ABATE of Wisconsin. The comments in the questionnaire said we should do more fund raising for projects like this, so here’s our chance to move ABATE ACRES forward. Your donation as small as 2 cents or as large as $1,000, will get your Pavilion Fund to the goal of $20,000 or more. That’s what is needed for Josef to contribute his 2:1 match of $10,000. He would like to give us a check at the Summer Hummer – a lofty goal. Let’s get to work! This is the time to dig deep and be generous. This is an offer we can’t refuse.
The trees that were sponsored through our summer and fall campaign of 2020 are planted and are thriving. A beautiful asset that will be appreciated as they grow. Land Warming Weekend was a blast! What a great turnout of hard-working members. We accomplished a lot and had a little fun to boot.
It’s Summer Hummer time!
And we’re ready!
