Our Drop Your Change Campaign is in full swing. As a continued way to reach our financial goal for the pavilion, drop your loose change into a jar at the end of the day…. Bring it to the Hummer…. And let’s see how much we can collect in a few months. There will be a collection jar at the land starting at Land Warming. For more information about the status of the band pavilion read the article on page 21 of this newsletter. Region 2E is regularly collecting loose change at their regional meetings and have been contributing donations in the hundreds of dollars using the drop your change fundraising idea. Can You Catch Them?
Regarding the Pavilion Construction. We now have board approval on the general design, the placement of the building, and the financing of it. The Land Committee will be deciding on a contractor as soon as three bids are in for comparison, and we plan to start the build in the fall, hoping to have it completed before winter sets in.
We will be “opening up” ABATE Acres the weekend of May 13th. If you are able to come to the land and give us a hand, we will be able to find a few projects for you to do. It is a good weekend to get out in the sun again after the winter we’ve had, and spruce things up for the Hummer and for the summer season. On Saturday afternoon, there will be a chili cook-off going on. Have an award winning chili?….bring it along and take a chance at being the WINNER. Sunday will be our first board meeting at the land in 2022 so be sure to stay and see what’s happening state-wide.
Please keep sending in your pavilion donations to Laurie Thompson marked “Pavilion Fund.” Hupy and Abraham, SC has provided us with a fundraising goal of another $35,000. If we make our mark, they will match it. With the potential of raising an additional $70,000, we could have our building entirely paid for by the end of the year. If anyone can do it, we can.
