November 2024
The next meeting will be held in Marathon County. Date and place to be determined.
Region 4A/4B meeting was held October 17 at Kizzy & Sue’s in Auburndale.
The meeting was called to order by Tom Babbitt. Doug read the pledge and prayers for downed brothers and sisters with special mention to Randy Furger, who is ill. Thanks was given to Mike Simonson for his time as Regional Rep.
Secretary and treasury notes were shared by previous officers. Thanks, and appreciation were given by all for the Region’s efforts in obtaining first place in fundraising for the last three years. Mike reported the Ride for the Never Forgotten Honor Flight had a great turn out and mentioned plans for doing the ride again next year with a few changes.
Shannon shared that the 50th anniversary, ride to the capital, and awards ceremony was great. He enjoyed getting to meet Dave Zien and Tommy Thompson and encouraged everyone to get out and vote. He also encouraged everyone to become an MRF member and discussion followed about how the helmet law is being pushed by insurance companies in Washington. Tom Babbitt shared updates and changes from the State Board meeting.
Tom Babbitt gave thanks to Tom Barten for being the top Motorcycle Safety Instructor. He reported he trained 30,000 students over 30 years. Tom Barten shared that there are two reasons there are accidents, inattentive driving and mechanical failures.
Jesse shared comments regarding changes in officers and continued combination of 4A/4B. Discussion followed regarding the election of officers for the region. The position for Regional Rep is open. The secretary, treasurer and other positions open will be chosen by the future Regional Rep.
Shannon shared that the District 4 Chili Cookoff and Pool & Dart Tournament will be held at the Hacienda Bar & Grill on Feb 22.
The region’s overnight ride was mentioned as tentatively being planned by Amber & Berke for Door County.
Discussion was held on how to increase membership and meeting attendance.
Future fund-raising events were reviewed. It was recommended to keep the brat fry in Stratford as that was a successful location. The new gas station in Arpin is also an option. Gun Raffle options were mentioned and tabled for later discussion. The Fun Run was reviewed, and the decision was made not to continue it. It was a huge success, but a lot of work for those that volunteered their time and money.
The next meeting will be held in Marathon County. Date and place to be determined.
Please send nominations for 4A/4B Regional Representative to Tom Babbitt.
