Meetings: See Text

January 2025

Region 4A/4B meeting was held December 14th at the Backwoods Bar & Grill.

The meeting was called to order by Jesse Plawman. He led the Pledge and prayers for Downed brothers and sisters. Mike S. read the mission statement. The November meeting notes were read by Denise. The Treasury report was provided by Lori S. and Jesse P.

Collection was made for the region’s MRF membership dues. Jan volunteered to take care of sending in the dues and the Gaming Licenses.

Lobby Day plans were reviewed. Doug has volunteered to be our bus captain. Mike brought up that California legislators are easing their stance on the electric motorcycle incentive.

Officer training was discussed. Several members volunteered to step up to fill current empty officer positions. The training will be held at Hotel Marshfield, February 7-9. Nomination for our Regional Representative will be at our next meeting in January.

Members were encouraged to attend the District 4 Chili Cook Off and Pool & Dart Tournament, which will be at the Hacienda Bar & Grill on February 22nd.

For our fundraising events, Dave R has collected information for a gun raffle. Gun options were reviewed, and discussion was tabled for a future meeting. For our Brat Fry, Jolene volunteered to shop for brats/buns. Doug & Jan will reserve the location at Cenex in Stratford. A bike night is being planned and tabled for now.

A long and serious conversation was had related to our popular Region 4A Fun Run. We had a huge success with this fund raiser that grew to include over 225 stops in a full color book with ads from popular vendors, such as Harley Davidson of Wausau, Hupy & Abraham and many more. The fun run included a Bike Fest in Rosholt for 2 years that we nicknamed little Sturgis. Sadly, we have decided to end the Fun Run this year. After 25 years of an ever-growing and popular event that started out as the District 4 Poker Run it has become too much work for the few volunteers, we had to manage it. Thanks to all that made this event successful and in our helping our region become the top in Treasury Fundraising in ABATE of WI for the last 3 years.

We talked about other fund-raising events and what other regions are doing.

Discussion was had about sponsoring a ride Thursday during the Summer Hummer.

Jesse asked that everyone try to sign up a new member this year.

We collected food donations. Scott and Joleen volunteered to deliver our donations to the Pittsville pantry.

The next meeting will be at the Pour House in Wisconsin Rapids on January 11th at 11 am.
