Region 4A: Marathon / Wood Counties

The next meeting will be in Portage County at Backwoods Bar & Grill on December 14th at 11 am.

Region 4A/4B meeting was November 9 at Hammer Down in Mosinee. The meeting was called to order by Jesse Plawman. We recited the Pledge and held prayers for downed brothers and sisters.

The October meeting notes were read. Doug also reminded the group that we recognized Tom Barten for his dedicated time as Safety Instructor. Tom shared that he received an award at state for his service.

Jesse shared the current number of motorcycle related deaths in Wisconsin this year to date and the importance of motorcycle safety. Current legislative priorities. ABATE is fighting for including consumer choice in engine type, the right to repair and service their own motorcycles or at independent dealerships without having to go to costly dealerships, and the continued debate of E10 and lower Ethanol Fuels and still fighting the helmet law.

Election of officers was brought up and how the voting process works. Members were encouraged to send their nomination to Tom Babbitt. Election will take place at our January meeting.

Upcoming events were reviewed. We will not have an overnight ride this year.

Fundraising- We will have the Brat fry on May 3 at the Stratford Cenex station, Jolene volunteered to help. Dave R volunteered to organize a gun raffle. A bike night was brought up as another event to consider.

Discussion was held on how to increase membership. Everyone was encouraged to sign up one new member. Jesse is looking for ways to get the younger generation involved. Dave R encouraged us to plan more rides together as a group. Tom suggested riding to the next meeting’s location after each meeting to verify if they will host as a way to ride together.

The next meeting will be in Portage County at Backwoods Bar & Grill on December 14th at 11 am. We will be collecting food donations for the Pittsville Food Pantry.

Jesse provided certificates of recognition for the officers that recently resigned their position with a very heartfelt speech for each of the officers.

Berke shared his Thanks to those that donated money for Big Al when he needed to be admitted to a nursing home for rehab. The money raised was more than expected and so much appreciated.
