How can I be sure that I get the full value of my bike from an insurance company if it is stolen or totaled in a crash?
This seems to be a main concern of many of my insureds. A picture is worth a thousand words. Take photos of each side of the cycle. Keep a list of changes or modifications you have done to your bike. Have a file of all your records and receipts. When you have a loss, it’s your responsibility to show what the bike was like before the loss occurred. Settling a total loss claim is not an easy thing. Having proof of all the things done can help the process.
Also, let your insurance company know when you have paid the bike off if you once had a loan.
