Safe Rider has had an interesting time in the last month. Our classroom building that we have used for the past six years or so was sold. Since we had no advanced warning, we had to scramble to find a new facility. This is not an easy process for what we need. Fortunately, we did find a suitable location. At that point we had to re-write all the confirmation and student information packets that go out when a student registers for a class. That has delayed the publication of the schedule of classes, but it should be available by the time you read this.
February is always a busy month for the program. On the ninth is the DOT Spring Kick-off meeting for all training sites. This year it will be a webinar format. It should be interesting to see how that works. The 13th and 14th is the ABATE officer training weekend. I’ll be making a presentation along with the Highway Safety Committee. I hope all the Regional officers will be there. After that we have our annual Safe Rider BOD meeting and Rider Coach in-service training.
We are also in the process of updating our advertising brochure. This is a bigger process than you might think (I’m finding out). Other than that, we are in good shape for the upcoming season.
I hope this mild winter we are having so far is giving you all the urge to get those bikes ready for Spring. With the extremely high fatality rate for motorcycles last year, it would be a good time to plan for a training class to update your skills. It is a good way to protect yourself and your loved ones. See you at officer training.
Ride Safe.
