Gearing Up

by Betty Roberge

It’s just around the corner. At Officer’s Training last month, we dispersed 4 different Summer Hummer Posters. The main poster, of course, as well as a Taste of Summer at the Hummer poster, the Bike Show poster, and the Swap Meet poster. We also sent home some small business cards with Hummer info on them for Regional Reps to hand out for advertising. If you need any of these items, please either see your Regional Rep or contact Marie. Her phone number/email address is on the back page of this newsletter.

The swap meet is something new we are trying this year, thanks to a suggestion from Region 7C. It is a bring your own everything swap meet. Nothing but space will be provided. No Tent. No Tables. No Electricity, etc.

The only cost in setting up is a Saturday Day Pass of $30 which includes full access to the grounds all day on Saturday and the opportunity to camp overnight if you wish. Register with Gary at the gate when you arrive on Saturday, and he will show you where you can set up.

The Hummer committee and the department heads are starting to push for members and attendees to sign up as volunteers. There are a lot of areas that need coverage, and we are open 24 hours once the Hummer starts so, please consider volunteering for a 4-hour shift or two to help us out. Department leads are listed in this article.

The Vendor coordinators have already received some commitments and registrations from vendors, both food and merchandise. There is always room for new and exciting vendors to sign on, so if you know of anyone that would be a good fit, have them contact us for more information.

Advertising for the Hummer is best achieved by word of mouth. Talk it up and bring your friends, neighbors, and especially your fellow members. We have always said that if half of our members would attend, we would be very successful. This is not only a great summertime rally, it is also one of the largest state fundraisers we have each year, so come on now……….let’s GO!

Don’t forget to find a theme for our Regional Campsite contest. Judging starts at 2 pm on Saturday and is usually quite entertaining.

On the schedule and subject to change are: 3 days of Music, 3 days of Food and Merchandise Vendors, the Best Campsite Contest, Corn Hole Tournament, Friday Ladies Ride (everyone is welcome to ride), Bike Wash, Loud Pipes Contest, Bike Games, Beer Bobbing, Motorcycle Parts Swap Meet, Bike Show, Bike Blessing and Ride to the Highground, Taste of Summer at the Hummer, Pin Up Girl Photo Shoot, Tattoo Contest, Wet Tee shirt Contest, and a Sunday morning breakfast put on by a Ministry team. Just a short list of what to expect when you come. See you then.
