Give’r Hell in ’21 – WE NEED YOU

by Betty Roberge

Now is the Time and the Time Begins with YOU!

Now is the time that the Summer Hummer Committee depends on YOU. We can plan all year long and get everything up and running for a banner year at the Hummer, but it boils down to attendance, and that boils down to YOU. Have you heard about the trickle-down effect? Let me explain. Bands love to entertain, Food vendors love to tantalize us with delicious food, Trade vendors love to show off their wares, People love to exhibit their Tats – their Bikes – their Bike Skills – their Beer Bobbing Skills – and more…and they loooove to win money – honey. The trickle-down effect means that if YOU are not there, the bands, the vendors, the tattoo artists, the “really cool” bikes won’t show up and raffles won’t take place. Attendance is YOU. ABATE is YOU. Success is YOU. ABATE of Wisconsin is counting on YOU. To make the Summer Hummer a success. To make the “Taste of Summer at the Hummer” a success. To make the vendors happy. To show off your Tats. To Show off your Bikes. To show off your Bike Skills. To show your Beer Bobbing Skills. To show us your Rhythm on the Dance Floor. To make this Summer Hummer the one to talk about. The one you don’t want to miss. The one we’ll talk about for years. Camping, Camaraderie, Beer, Wine, Cheese, Meat Tasting, Music culminating with the sounds of REO Speedwagon played by the RichRath Project 3:13 on Saturday night. What more is there? People…it all comes down to people. The more people we attract, the more vendors, music, and activities we attract…. trickle down.

Now is the time to find like minded people that want to preserve the freedom of the road by supporting the Hummer. YOU will not only have a good time but will ensure that ABATE of Wisconsin earns the funds needed to focus on our goals. Legislative work takes money. Motorcycle Education takes money. Motorcycle Safety initiatives take money. The Summer Hummer is a premium way for ABATE of Wisconsin to fundraise….one of our biggest fundraisers of the year. It takes all of us….it takes YOU.

BANDS
Music starts on Wednesday with a jam session held by some local bands that will play for tips. The Line-up for Thursday is the Back Alley Kings; Friday is Bobby Evans then Double Threat; and Saturday night is Eager Beaver followed by the Richrath Project 3:13 an REO Speedwagon tribute band widely known throughout the Midwest region. Check out the RichRath Project 3:13 website where they are already advertising the Summer Hummer.

TASTE OF SUMMER AT THE HUMMER
“Taste of Summer at the Hummer” is new this year and is a Wine – Beer – Cheese – Meat tasting extravaganza that will take place on Saturday afternoon under the big tent near the bar area. If you’re interested in 3 hours of sampling Wisconsin cheeses and meats while sampling Wisconsin craft beers and wines, come to the big top on Saturday afternoon. The Mad Dog & Merrill crew will be hosting a meet and greet during the tasting, so be sure to stop by. $25 will get you into the tasting tent and anyone coming to the rally just for the tasting, is invited to stay and enjoy the music later on. Camping is available and we encourage those that have tasted, to drink responsibly and not drive home, but stay over.
ADVERTISING
Our best advertising is you…. We Need You to start talking up the Hummer by word of mouth. Talk about the loud pipes contest, the bike games, the people hauler, the beer bobbing, the bonfire, the great food, vendors, and the Taste of Hummer. But most of all, talk about the camaraderie and friendships made there. Look for Hummer posters, billboards, and business cards. If you need items for distribution contact Bob Aprill at (920) 373-3668.

COST
Advanced tickets were picked up at Officer’s Training so ask your regional reps at your meetings if you want to save some cash. Members and Non-members alike will save $5 by purchasing in advance. Damon is working hard to have on-line ticket sales up and running as an alternative to mailing your advanced ticket requests to the office. Look for that information soon on our Summer Hummer page on the website.

Ticket prices this year are: Day Passes Saturday Only – $25
Weekend Member Advanced – $35
Weekend Member at Gate – $40
Weekend Non-Member Advanced – $70
Weekend Non-Member at Gate – $75

A $10 discount will be given to new members attending the Hummer for the first time. Those coupons will be sent with membership information from the State Office at the time they join starting in January. Those joining at the gate will be given the discount on site.

VOLUNTEERING
In this newsletter are Hummer area leads. Contact these people for volunteering. Please consider volunteering for a 4-hour shift to help ease the burden. New this year – a limited number of volunteers that work (2) 4-hour shifts (a total of 8 hours) will qualify for a refund in the amount of a Member Advanced Ticket or $35. This is on a first-come, first served basis, so volunteer soon. Remember you must volunteer and work a full 8 hours to qualify, and you must present your volunteer work vouchers at the time of payment – which will be made in the form of ABATE Bucks that are good for ABATE products or for beer chips.

We Need You to…. Loosen your lips and tell everyone about the Hummer.
We need every member to bring a member.
