And the Hummer Committee is counting on YOU to gear up and let everyone know that next month our usually quiet 80 private acres of land just a few miles south of Thorp is going to ROCK!
Don’t forget to let everyone know about “The Taste of Summer at the Hummer” – our second annual beer, cheese, wine, and sausage tasting. This year we will enjoy the sounds of Gregg Hall, an acoustical guitarist, who will play during the tasting. If you know of a winery, craft brewery, cheese shop or meat locker, invite them to our tasting. Contact Dawn who is heading up this event. Her information is listed below. This is taking place on Saturday afternoon from noon to 3 pm. In addition to the tasting, you will be taking home a souvenir “Tasting Cup” as a remembrance and will have the opportunity to win some of the wines that you will be sampling during a raffle. This year to coincide with our “Ride Your Own Ride” campaign, we will be offering non-alcoholic beer and wine tasting as well. Cost is $20 to enter the tasting “Room.” Enjoy and Savor!
You have about a month to take advantage of buying Advance Summer Hummer Tickets. Right now, the price is $35 per member or $70 per non-member. If there are any non-members out there that would like to take advantage of a DEAL here’s one that’s hard to give up. If a non-member becomes a member for $35 then they qualify to buy an advance ticket for $35. What kind of a deal is that you say? Let me explain. Every new member of ABATE of WI is entitled to a $10 off coupon to their first Summer Hummer, so instead of buying a $70 non-member advance ticket, you can get in as a member for $60. ($35 to join, $35 advance member ticket price, minus $10 first Hummer Coupon = $60.) That’s one heck of a deal for a three-day camping event with music all weekend and a ton of activities to enjoy. These prices are only good until June 6th….after that date you pay full price at the gate.
Want to help? Get in touch with Chrissy, our First Aid department head (her information is listed below) if you have any medical skills and are willing to donate some time to help out in First Aid. We hope we never need it, but we need to be ready in case we do. This is a department that is On-Call 24/7 and is very much appreciated. If we are able to spread out the workload, it will help everybody out. Remember that if you volunteer for (2) 4-hour shifts, your gate entry fee ($35 / the cost of a member advanced ticket) will be refunded to you.
Speaking of Department Heads below is a list of those that volunteered to head up various areas for the Hummer. Please contact them if you are interested in volunteering for a shift or offer your help during the Hummer. For this fundraiser to run properly we need good people to count on for the weekend. Remember that if you work (2) 4-hour shifts you are eligible for a $35 reimbursement, which is the equivalent of your advance ticket cost or in other words, you get in free.

They must be pre-ordered. Get on the list today.
Remember – let’s “SATURATE THE STATE” with posters and advertising to generate attendance and remember The greatest advertising we have lined up for the 2022 Hummer is YOU. Talk it up at each meeting. Bring friends and family – members or not.
DO YOU WANT TO HAVE A SUCCESFULL HUMMER?
WHERE DO WE FIND PEOPLE TO ATTEND?
Our biggest resource for attendees can be found within our own membership. Commit to being one of 25% of our own members attending the Summer Hummer. This would give our organization the greatest fundraiser we have ever had. Commit yourself to experiencing camping and camaraderie at the land. Commit yourself to listening to the sounds of a variety of music starting on Thursday afternoon and going through Saturday night. Commit yourself to enjoying the company of like-minded people. Start deciding what “theme” your region will be using for the “Regional Campsite Theme Contest.” (Judging to be held on Saturday.) Commit yourself to experiencing the 2022 Summer Hummer as you’ve never seen it!
Why do we want to? Because – Motorcycling Matters!
As always, forward any and all Hummer ideas to: obert.grasse59@gmail.com or news30letter@outlook.com.
