Just back from Officer’s Training. I want to thank everyone for giving up their weekend and spending that time working on our safety and freedom to ride where we want, when we want, on what we want, and with who we want. Stay informed. It’s your best weapon against policies and yes, some people that would like to see us just fade away. We need to be certain we have fuel that meets our needs and also keep an eye on new technology being developed for cars and trucks.
How do we stay informed? It’s not as hard as you may think. Read the ABATE newsletter and attend your regional meetings. Technology is not my personal thing but I have to admit it can be a good thing. You can get so much information on line about what is going on, you have no reason to say I didn’t see that coming. Information is Power.
All of the Regional Reps at Officer’s Training received a packet containing information to take back to their members. This year we included two free tickets to the Summer Hummer. They are to be given to 2 members that have never been there before. When your region distributes the tickets list the winner’s names on the sheet included with the tickets and return it to Laurie. The Hummer committee is interested to see how this program works. The Summer Hummer is a perfect opportunity to recruit members. Speaking of that, I am still asking each member to recruit one member. It really isn’t that hard to do and would be a huge benefit to us. As they say, there is strength in numbers.
On another note, Officer’s Training ended our year-long membership campaign for earning $250. If you remember Bronson Smith donated the $250 and challenged our members to recruit 15 members between Officer’s Training 2022 and Officer’s Training 2023. Many members were close to the goal, but two members achieved it and their names went into a hat for the $250 drawing. I am pleased to announce that Kurt Adams, Region 6A was the winner. The runner up was Pat Schmidt, Region 4A. These two members alone recruited 37 members!…so, they proved that recruiting one member is not that hard.
Just a reminder that I am the Summer Hummer Gate Keeper. Please contact me to sign up for a 4-hour worker shift. It is a lot of fun, and you get to meet some of the best people on earth.
Ride Safe, Ride Free, Ride with ABATE.
