No history lessons this month. Instead we are announcing the “Write Your Rep” contest.
The people of the United States, which includes you, are encouraged to keep in touch with elected Senators and Representatives and appointed officials on staff. Most of the time, when you send a note to a Senator or to a Representative, they will send you a reply. Our “Write Your Rep” contest is to encourage you to start writing to our government leaders.
The winner of the “Write Your Rep” contest will be the Junior Patriot that brings the most written replies to the Family Campout at ABATE Acres on August 9 – 11. Of course, there will be prizes. Your parents, guardians and mentors can help you get started. The ABATE of Wisconsin web site also has some helpful links.
You can write to any member of our local, state, or federal government on any topic that interests you. When you write, you don’t have to say you are a Junior Patriot, but if you do, please stick to freedom of the road issues. This is the same thing that adult ABATE of Wisconsin members do.
Note to Parents/Guardians/Mentors: This contest is open to ABATE of Wisconsin Junior Patriots. If you’re not sure if your child is a member of the Junior Patriots or would like to join, contact the Junior Patriots coordinator. While the Family Campout is open to anyone, it is our main Junior Patriots event of the year, so we would ask that the winners of this contest be in attendance. Until next month……..
