While there is always an influx of new and renewal memberships during and right before the Summer Hummer, this year there were also a lot of memberships coming in just after it. Tell me it’s because we’re all doing our job and promoting ourselves to our biking friends and neighbors and they can’t wait to join our ranks.
There were 7 – yes, I said 7, lifetime memberships that came in just last week. Incredible. Not only that but we’ve seen some members that have opted to pay for multiple years of membership while renewing now. Could part of the reason be the membership dues increase vote that is scheduled for the August Board Meeting? I don’t know. I’m just sayin’ I’m glad to see those memberships coming in. I do know that if you have an opinion about whether to support a dues increase or not and to what dollar amount you would support raising the dues to, you better let your regional rep know before August 11th. The Board has asked for membership input via regional reps and district directors, so they are able to make the best decision for the corporation and I expect there will be some good conversation at that meeting. Also keep in mind that the Board of Directors, while considering all input they receive, are obligated to do what is right to secure the future of ABATE.
Speaking of memberships, have I got a deal for you. If you are a first or a second-year member, you have the opportunity to “earn” a free year’s membership for yourself by attending any 4 regional meetings or events. While attending, ask the regional rep for a card (all regional reps have them). Collect 4 cards from 4 different meetings or events, send them to the State Office in Black River Falls and ta da, you will receive a one-year extension on your ABATE membership for free. Couldn’t be any simpler or any more fun.
A second promotion we have been running is for all members, not just newbies. Sign up 10 new members in a year and you too, will be eligible to receive a one-year extension on your ABATE membership for free.
Don’t forget to keep plenty of membership application forms in your saddlebags….Never know who you’ll strike up a conversation with at the pump.
Hope your summer involves smooth riding and your regional membership keeps growing.
