The new MRF address is:
Motorcycle Riders Foundation
PO Box 9090
Peoria, IL 61612
All membership applications need to be sent to this new address. That means all trifolds, membership applications, etc. that are in your possession need to be updated. We went through this recently with ABATE, and it’s the same process. Bring all your old materials to me or your District Director and I will put new address labels on them or give you new ones. It’s important that we stay current as we don’t want to have any delays in processing memberships.
We were well represented at Meeting of the Minds in Iowa in September. ABATE of WI had several members that were presenters at the conference, once again showing our strong leadership skills. And we brought home several awards again this year, including Most Sustaining MRF Memberships, a title we have held for a long time. Also, staying in the Top 10 in the country for membership recruitment are Cathy Dial and me. I’d like to see the rest of our Assistant State Reps step up and get on that list by next year.
Last year at this time, I wrote in my MRF article that “Getting to the top is one thing; staying there is another.” Iowa kicked everyone’s butt in membership recruitment in 2022. And with the latest numbers that just came out, we are only ONE person ahead of Illinois in individual memberships. That would drop us down to #3 if we don’t step up our game. We are looking to build our Assistant Reps team in order to have better coverage throughout the state so we can attend more events and meetings and increase our membership. Contact me if you are interested in helping the Reps team.
If there’s one take-away from Meeting of the Minds that everyone needs to hear, it’s this statement from Europe “It’s important that motorcycles do NOT remain fossil fueled as the rest of the vehicles clean up.” Please don’t stick you head in the sand and say, “well, that’s in Europe. That doesn’t affect us.” It does! And it will! What starts in Europe makes it way over to the States. Think round-abouts, for example. And if “cleaning up” is their game, let’s not forget about fatalities. In the US, motorcyclists are only 2-3% of the road users, yet account for 14% of fatalities. What easier way to reduce fatalities by 14% than to eliminate 2% of the road users all together?
There’s scary stuff coming down the pike. Get educated, get fired up, and spread the word! Lastly, if you aren’t already a member of the MRF, you should be! Preserving our freedoms is not just done at a state level, but at a national level as well. There’s an MRF membership application in this newsletter. Sign up to become a member today! And sign your friends up too!
As always, stay vigilant, my friends!
