Are you getting the gas that you paid for or are you getting a product that will damage your ATV/UTV, boat, small engine, snowmobile, motorcycle, or car engine and void your manufacturer’s warranty? The Federal Environmental Protection Agency reported that the use of E15 in these products is prohibited, but Kwik Trip is asking State Legislators to increase your risk of misfueling your engines.
Currently in the State of Wisconsin, a business is not allowed to include ethanol blends that are higher than E10 in pumps that have multiple fuels dispensing from one nozzle. If AB 382/SB 349 is passed, station owners will be allowed to include E15 in multi-blend dispenser nozzles. By allowing this practice, a consumer will automatically get up to 1 gallon of the fuel that the previous customer purchased, rather than the product that they are paying for and expect to receive. That product could be E15! By allowing this practice, a consumer could unknowingly violate Federal Law, risk catastrophic engine failure and void their warranty.
This bill states that combining E15 into these dispensers will only be allowed if the station has at least one pump dedicated to E10 or less at every location. One pump… potentially one nozzle for all ATV/UTV, small engine, snowmobile, motorcycle, or older car owners to use at each location. The legislation will put an unnecessary burden on these consumers and could increase the risk of misfuelling your vehicle or engine. Additionally could also result in a station operating in violation of state law should that one pump be out of order.
