Being that ABATE of Wisconsin put it on, I figured I knew a few people. Friday evening, I heard Mark Buckner, who was amazing, and a couple of quotes that stuck with me were “Always Challenge Yourself” and “Surround Yourself with People of Principle”. I can say without a doubt, my friends and family from ABATE, both Wisconsin and the other states, are just that, “People of Principle”.
Saturday, I attended Putting the Right Person to the Task or job. It made me look at myself and my role in ABATE. Then it was off to 3R’s of Responsibility and even though I do not own a motorcycle and enjoy riding “bitch”, it taught me how important being responsible is. After that it was “Bridging the Gap” – SSMROs and Clubs. This class gave me ideas on different ways to bring these two groups together. But also remembering that being a woman my options are limited when it came to clubs. With that being said, I could bring those ideas to the guys in my region, 7B of Wisconsin.
Another breakout was Principles of Leadership. It made me take a look at any role I choose to get involved with in ABATE of Wisconsin and ask myself if I am qualified to do it.
In the end, I really enjoyed my experience and would recommend anyone who is an ABATE member to go the extra mile and attend S.T.E.A.M.
