Is Spring here yet? I don’t want to be fooled, but I have gotten some riding done. Thanks to a very helpful tech guy at Twisted Throttle, I have gotten one of my driving lights replaced and am ready for the year. Sadly, my first ride of the year was to the funeral of a friend from Stevens Point who was an Ambassador for the BMWMOA.
Our BRC classes for the year are filling up very fast. The first two were filled by the end of February. It looks like we will have another good year. Safe Rider had a very good day at our annual training and board meeting session. I want to thank Vicki and Tony Sanfelipo for doing our First Aid and CPR training that Rider Coaches are required to have every two years. I also want to thank our board members for making the time to attend.
The members of Region 7D did a fine job of running another successful Chili Cook-off early in March. Thanks to everyone for the participation and work. We even had one of ABATE’s newest members ride from Marshfield for the event. It had to be a cold ride so early in the day.
Keep in mind with the realignment of the ABATE state office that Safe Rider is still located in Black River Falls. Kelley is still running our office operations and the phone for Safe Rider is 715-299-7233. The mailing address for Safe Rider is PO Box 186, BRF 54615. All registrations for classes are through the abatewis.org site.
There is still a lot of sand on the roads, along with frost coming out of the ground. If you are out riding be very careful. Be especially aware of shaded areas near hillsides. Make sure your bike is mechanically ready and you are mentally ready. Your safety is in your hands.
Ride Safe,
Gary
