Great things are happening regarding the Summer Hummer this year. If you haven’t heard, start listening. We have a one-minute radio spot that will be playing in the Greenwood area and hopefully can get put out throughout the state. It is really a good ad that grabs the listener and makes them want to be there. We have developed signage for a few billboards to be put up along Hwy 29 and Hwy 10. Both advertising options direct you to the website, where we will be posting more information the closer we get to the event. Besides these two options, start spreading the word at your meetings, at other events you attend, where you work and anywhere else you think you have an audience. Advertising works like the virus………word can spread.
For those of you that don’t know yet, new this year is a first for us. We are going to be hosting a Beer, Wine, Cheese and Meat Tasting on Saturday afternoon from 2-5 under the big top. Rebel is in the process of soliciting businesses who are interested in setting up a spot and giving us the opportunity to taste their wares. If you know of any business that might be a good fit, contact Rebel by phone at (414) 640-6125 or email him at Ronhog1@aol.com. We have some awesome regional craft breweries and wineries, not to mention cheese and meat shops in and around our state that we could showcase. These tastings have become common festivals by themselves in several areas of Wisconsin and are very popular, so talk this up also. It is a great way to introduce the general public to our organization and to the Hummer. People who attend will pay their $20 Gate Day Pass fee and additional $20 tasting fee to get into the big top tasting designated area. What a way to expose people to what the Hummer is all about and what ABATE has to offer. Those attendees are able to follow up the tasting with the great sounds of “Eliminator” a ZZ Top cover band on Saturday night. Check them out on YouTube for a preview of what’s in store.
We have an awesome lineup of things to do at the Hummer including 3 days of music, bike games, a bikini bike wash, barstool races, bike show, raffles, merchandise vendors, and food vendors with the possibility of a few “extras”. I’ve heard something about a very specific kind of bowling… there’s always the chance of beer bobbing taking place and the last few years there has been a parade (?) on the grounds. So, if you’re looking for a really fun, diverse weekend, remember “There’s Nothing Like a Hummer, In the Summer” taking place at our own ABATE Acres on June 18 – 21st.
Advance tickets are on sale now. Contact the state office and get yours early. Advance Ticket Cost is $25 for Members and must be purchased by June 1st. Gate prices are $30. See the order form elsewhere in this newsletter.
Let’s make this one, one to remember!
