Summer Hummer Report

by Betty Roberge

The word of the month is SPONSORS – Again.

Don’t want to sound like a broken record, but sponsorships are an enormous boon to the Summer Hummer budget and what we can offer our attendees. The more we can offer, the more word of mouth advertising will occur, and that will continue to build the excitement. Excitement is what fuels a successful event. A reminder that the committee has asked each active region to solicit $500 worth of sponsorship money. While the deadline for sponsorships is “officially” December 1st we will continue to accept sponsor money until June. We have an absolute deadline of December 15th for our posters to be generated with sponsor names on them. Any sponsor money that comes in after that deadline will still be able to take advantage of newsletter and website advertising and of course, will be included in the event program itself. Depending on the level of sponsorship, we will also provide the other items listed in our sponsorship brochures. Here is a list of our sponsors to date: Hupy and Abraham Law Firm; Modern Disposal Systems-Sparta, WI; Bull Falls HD-Wausau; Vandervest HD-Green Bay; Madison HD; Region 2A; Roadhouse-Necedah; Denmark Bank; J&W Driving Academy-Greenwood; and Tiger Beyer. If you run across these businesses/persons, thank them. If you know of a sponsor in your area that is not listed here, please contact them to see if they have an interest in giving us a hand. Contact Betty Roberge at (608) 769-4089 or news30letter@outlook.com.

“If we build it, they will come.” Last month I reported on the pavilion fund. The construction bids have come in and still need to be “tweaked” a bit, but what we discovered is that we are financially a little bit away from having the money available to put this up when we want to. In other words, the Pavilion Fund Campaign is still ON. We need to generate more monies into that fund if we want a quality building constructed, and being the quality organization that we are, we need to do it right. So, that means keep sending in your donations to Laurie Thompson marked “Pavilion Fund” and let’s still hope it can be done by Hummer 2022. The problem we will be facing is weather and road bans. If we don’t get going soon, we will have to hold out for another year. Can we do it? The committee hopes so. Questions? Contact Robert “Worm” Grasse at (920) 912-1789 or robert.grasse59@gmail.com.

Vendors: Applications from vendors are starting to arrive. It looks like we will have a great turnout and a variety of vendors to visit at the Hummer. For Vendor info contact Lauri Shakal at (715) 306-0048 or laurishakal@yahoo.com.

Taste of Summer: Invitations will be going out shortly. If you know of a brewery, winery, cheese shop, or meat locker that might be interested in becoming a Taste vendor, please contact Dawn Stoddard at (920) 639-5037 or dawn.stoddard63@yahoo.com.

Security: We are in the process of vetting someone new to head up our Hummer security for 2022. If you are, or know of, someone that would fit the bill, please Contact Robert “Worm” Grasse at (920) 912-1789 or robert.grasse59@gmail.com.

Website: Our Summer Hummer webpage is in the process of being built. Watch for us soon at www.abatewis.org.
Musical Entertainment: What a lineup! Musical Entertainment Acts will be announced at Officer’s Training.

Officer’s training will be the place for Regional Reps to pick up Summer Hummer posters, magnets, business cards, Establishment Day Pass information, and Excitement! The best advertising on deck for the 2022 Hummer is YOU. Talk it up at each meeting. Bring friends and family – members or not. Start deciding what “theme” your region will be using for the “Regional Campsite Theme Contest.” Let’s prove that 25% + of our own members are willing to support the biggest state fundraiser of the year! Just Imagine. Just Be There. Just Do It!

Why do we want to? Because – Motorcycling Matters!
