The Committee met in July prior to the BOD meeting at the land. There were many things hashed out, including the need to come up with a realistic budget to present to the Board in September for discussion and approval. Approval needs to be made soon because we start the process of getting bands booked, and vendor/sponsorship paperwork printed and mailed out.
We have several ideas for bands and the Friday night band has already been decided on. If you know of any local Wisconsin bands that might be a fit for us, please forward us the information, keeping in mind that our budget is minimal. Once our attendance grows, we would be able to offer more musical alternatives, but for next year we are lowering our musical budget.
The subject of daily passes came up also. It was the consensus of the committee to give daily passes a try in 2023. We would offer the weekend pass that covers from Thursday to Sunday with camping, and then a daily pass each day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with different colored wristbands for each day. Costs are yet to be determined, however we discussed and are likely to approve $35 for the daily passes. We would offer parking in the field across from the entry gate to the right of the entrance road to anyone coming in just for the day.
Ken Nelson has stepped down from being in charge of the bar area and we have two prospective candidates that may co-coordinate the bar area. More on that in the future.
As a reminder, our vendor coordinators are always looking for new vendors. Those invitation letters will be going out as soon as October, so if you know of someone who might be interested, be sure to forward that info to Lauri Shakal (715) 306-1148, Betsy Jennings (507) 429-4836, or Kay Johnson (715) 512-0062.
Betty is also looking for help in finding sponsors. The more sponsorship money we have available, the more choices we have in what we can offer to our members at the Hummer, not to mention that it will help increase our bottom line. After all, this is a fundraiser for ABATE of WI.
Start practicing up on your corn-hole skills. I hear there will be a tournament next Hummer. Team against Team? Region against Region? You be the judge.
As always, forward any and all Hummer ideas, comments – good or bad – and suggestions to: Robert.grasse59@gmail.com or news30letter@outlook.com.
SEE YOU IN JUNE 2023!
