Summer Hummer Report

by Betty Roberge

It’s only 7 months away and those involved in the planning are bustling making all the arrangements for the event. It takes a whole year of planning to pull off the Hummer. Every year we strive to be bigger and better. To make that happen it takes each and every member. Every member to spread the word and bring a friend to show off what we have at ABATE Acres.

Music has been booked and we are in the throws of obtaining sponsorship. Each regional rep received a packet at the Annual Meeting that contained sponsorship materials to distribute to businesses or individuals who might be interested in sponsoring the Hummer. Every little bit helps and sponsorships start at $100 and up. Sponsors who want to be included on our poster, depending on their sponsorship level, must have their application and payment in by December 31st. Posters are printed first thing in January for distribution in January.

Next on the agenda will be to solicit vendors. That information should be going out right after the first of the year. If you know of someone who would be interested in vending, let Lauri Shakal, Betsy Jennings, or Kay Johnson know so they can make contact.

Don’t forget that we are going to try something new next year and will be having a “Bring Your Own Everything Swap Meet.” It means exactly what it says. If you want to be a part of the swap meet all you have to do is bring everything you need to sell or trade your wares – tables, tent shelter, chairs, money/coin change, etc. Your cost is a daily pass of $30. The swap meet is available on Saturday only and your day pass includes all access to the grounds, music, vendors, and camping at night. Nice little package deal for a day pass entry fee. We do ask that those people coming in for the swap meet only do not conflict with our regular vendor sales, meaning – don’t just bring in leather goods to sell because we may already have a weekend vendor that paid for the entire weekend vending spot that might sell the same thing. Use good judgement.

Krissy will be working on updating our Facebook page to include Summer Hummer teasers to generate interest. She will also be creating a new website page to keep everyone informed of what’s happening, who our vendors are, and who to contact to volunteer.

More to come next month…

Let’s rock and roll into 2024!
