Summer Hummer Report

by Betty Roberge

Things are a little quiet now regarding Hummer news. The most important thing we can do is to solicit sponsors. Those brochures were mailed out in early October, and we are anxiously awaiting the return of sponsorship forms and payment so we know who to put on our flyers and what impact their donations to the Hummer will have on this year’s bottom line. It is critical that we all do our part to bring in those sponsors…and don’t just bring them in, invite them to come to the event. If you’ve been there, you know they won’t be disappointed. Extra brochures are available from Marie. There is also a one-page form that she can email and/or mail you to use. Keep them handy. You never know when the opportunity will arise, and you want to be ready. A form is also printed in the newsletter for anyone’s convenience.

Remember the “Bring Your Own Everything Swap Meet” that will make its debut this year. If you want to be a part of the swap meet all you have to do is bring everything you need to sell or trade your wares – tables, tent shelter, chairs, money/coin change, etc. Your cost is a daily pass of $30. The swap meet is available on Saturday only and your day pass includes an all-access pass to the grounds, music, vendors, and camping at night. Nice little package deal for a day pass entry fee. We do ask that those people coming in for the swap meet only do not conflict with our regular vendor sales, meaning – don’t just bring in leather goods to sell because we may already have a weekend vendor that paid for the entire weekend vending spot that might sell the same thing. Use good judgement. We are looking for someone to head this area up. If you are interested, please contact Worm or Betty.

As mentioned last month, Krissy will be working on updating our Facebook page to include Summer Hummer teasers to generate interest. She will also be creating a new website page to keep everyone informed of what’s happening, who our vendors are, and who to contact to volunteer.

One other thing. We are looking for a design for the 2024 Summer Hummer T-Shirt. If you have a flair for artistry, send your ideas to Worm or Betty. We will be deciding on the final design at Officer’s Training. The deadline for submission is January 31st. Remember that 2024 is also ABATE of Wisconsin’s 50th Anniversary if you want to incorporate some of that into your artwork, however the Summer Hummer started a few years after ABATE started so the event is not quite 50 years old yet. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

More to come next month…

Let’s rock and roll into 2024!
