Summer Hummer Report

Let’s Talk Sponsors! It’s December already and the sponsorship letters and brochures have been mailed to prospective businesses. Please be sure to grab some sponsorship brochures from your Regional Rep or have Marie mail you some. There is also a one-page sponsorship form in the newsletter. Feel free to make copies and take to your local businesses and friendly establishments to see if they want to sponsor the 2025 Summer Hummer. We have a short window of opportunity for those businesses to be included on our posters and flyers that will be printed in January, so please get out there and stump! We will still accept sponsors after that deadline, but they will not be included on our posters – just in the newsletter, on the website, and in our event schedule. Our goal has been to receive enough sponsorships to cover the cost of our musical bands. That price tag is, give or take, $10,000. Yes, this fundraising event has some pretty hefty costs associated with it, so please help ABATE out and bring in your favorite sponsor. For those of you that live in the Greenwood area, this is a prime opportunity to visit the local businesses, restaurants, and taverns that benefit from the Hummer being in their neck of the woods. This is very good advertising at the local level. And while you’re at it, be sure to let them know about the Hummer itself. There is a lot of fun going on for an entire weekend at very little cost. Especially if you become a member!

The committee voted at the last Hummer meeting to once again offer two free Summer Hummer passes to each active region. These passes are to be used for new or old members that have never been to the Hummer before as a way of introducing them to not only the Hummer experience, but to introduce them to the land as well. We can’t say enough about what a great resource we have in ABATE Acres. Let’s encourage everyone to use it.

Worm has told us that the bands are booked for 2025. Once we receive the signed contracts back, we can let you know who will be entertaining us. They also announced that there will be a local band playing from 1 – 5 pm on Sunday for those of you that stay to help clean up the land after the party….and BTW thank you to the volunteers that stay behind to do that.

We are starting to get our advertising ducks in a row. There will be radio ads as well as newspaper “Shopper” ads close to the event so people can be reminded that the Hummer is right around the corner. If you have any suggestions besides the poster/flyers, radio, and Shopper ads, let us know. Of course, the best form of advertising is word of mouth….so talk it up and start spreading the news!

Don’t forget to put on your artistic hat and come up with a 2025 Summer Hummer T-shirt design that is AWESOME!
