The Hummer Committee is counting on you to start pushing the Summer Hummer. Push it at your work, Push it in your neighborhoods, push it at family events and push it at your meetings. The more enthusiasm we can muster, the more people that will attend, and the more fun we will have. Those of us putting this event together can only plan it. It’s up to you to generate interest and get your camping buddies to come. If you haven’t been to ABATE Acres you are in for a treat because it is better groomed than a lot of campgrounds I’ve been to and has an excellent shower facility. But the best thing we have to offer is the camaraderie you can find there.
Don’t forget to let everyone know about “The Taste of Summer at the Hummer” – our second annual beer, cheese, wine, and sausage tasting. This year we will enjoy the sounds of Gregg Hall, an acoustical guitarist, who will play during the tasting. If you know of a winery, craft brewery, cheese shop or meat locker, invite them to our tasting. Contact Dawn who is heading up this event. Her information is listed below. This is taking place on Saturday afternoon from noon to 3 pm. In addition to the tasting, you will be taking home a souvenir “Tasting Cup” as a remembrance and will have the opportunity to win some of the wines that you will sample during a raffle. Cost is $20 to enter the tasting “Room.” Enjoy and Savor!
Advance Hummer Tickets are on sale NOW. Price is $35 per member or $70 per non-member. Now…if you non-members like to take advantage of a DEAL here’s one that’s hard to give up. If a non-member becomes a member for $35 then they qualify to buy an advance ticket for $35. What kind of a deal is that you say? Let me explain. Every new member of ABATE of WI is entitled to a $10 off coupon to their first Summer Hummer, so instead of buying a $70 non-member advance ticket, you can get in as a member for $60. ($35 to join, $35 advance member ticket, minus $10 first Hummer Coupon = $60.) That’s one heck of a deal for a three-day camping event with music all weekend and a ton of activities to enjoy.
We are currently taking names to assist in First Aid. If you are an EMT, Nurse, or have any medical experience at all, please contact Robert “Worm” Grasse so he can forward your information to Chrissy, our First Aid department head. Or better yet, contact her yourself using her information listed below. We need several qualified people to spread shifts out over our three days in order to be adequately staffed and to keep our medical volunteers “fresh.”
Speaking of Department Heads below is a list of those that volunteered to head up various areas for the Hummer. Please contact them if you are interested in volunteering for a shift or offer your help during the Hummer. For this fundraiser to run properly we need good people to count on for the weekend. Remember that if you work (2) 4-hour shifts you are eligible for a $35 reimbursement, which is the equivalent of your advance ticket cost or in other words, you get in free.

Establishment Program. There is still an opportunity available for businesses to take advantage of. We are offering our Day Pass Establishment program again this year. ABATE friendly business are able to purchase (10) Hummer day passes for Saturday only at a cost of $150 – payable at the time they receive their packets. These businesses then have the option to sell the day passes at face value or $25 each and make themselves a profit of $100 for doing so. In the past, businesses have given them to customers, raffled them off at events or sold them for what they paid for them. Be sure to let your businesses know that the day pass entitles the attendee to stay at the Hummer all day Saturday and to camp overnight until Sunday, as ABATE of WI promotes being responsible. Contact Laurie Thompson or Betty Roberge if you have a business that is interested in participating.
Remember – let’s “SATURATE THE STATE” with posters and advertising to generate attendance and remember The greatest advertising we have lined up for the 2022 Hummer is YOU. Talk it up at each meeting. Bring friends and family – members or not.
Start deciding what “theme” your region will be using for the “Regional Campsite Theme Contest.” Let’s prove that 25% + of our own members are willing to support our biggest state fundraiser of the year!
Why do we want to? Because – Motorcycling Matters!
