Whew, we did it! The Hummer is now a thing of the past. What a great weekend. The weather cooperated for once, the food vendors offered delicious menus, the music was EXCELLENT, we had tattoo artists galore with a lot of new ink being shown off. We had barstool racing with Krissy from 2E and John Reblin going head-to-head, bean bag tournaments, beer bobbing -always fun to watch- an anatomy contest, tattoo contest, bike contest, loud pipes contest and a pin up girl photo shoot. I have yet to hear one complaint. Our members and guests truly enjoyed this event so let’s keep the momentum going and gear up for another great Hummer in 2024.
We are always looking to better this fundraising / party. At this time, we start looking for musical talent for next year (If you know of a good fit let Betty know). In general, we would like input from this year’s attendees. If you have ideas, suggestions, comments – good or bad – please contact Worm or Betty. Our contact info is at the bottom of this article. Constructive criticism is a good thing.
Of course, we can’t thank our volunteers enough for pulling the Summer Hummer together and making it what it was. There are many spots that needed filling and there were many members that were willing to step up and lend a hand, so THANK YOU!
We also could not have pulled this off without our 2023 sponsors that included: Hupy and Abraham, Modern Disposal Systems, Harley Davidson of Madison, Magneto’s MC, Craft Masonry, Inc., Husch Blackwell Strategies, Suburban Motors, State Bank of Chilton, Elkhorn Saloon, Roadhouse-Necedah, Road Track and Trail, Roger “Bug” Woodke, Sunset Tavern, Beedle’s Bar & Restaurant, Club La Mark, Cousins Subs, Gaier Construction, Julie & “Worm” Grasse, The Highground, Jo & Mike Halvorson, Jensen’s Towing, Moraine Motel, Ray Ray’s Bottom’s Up Bar, Region 4C, Rooster’s Roadhouse, Smiling Moose Saloon & Grill, and Danny & Dawn Stoddard. A big shout out to all of them. We couldn’t have done it without you! Be sure to stop by their businesses and thank them for their support.
Our new Pavilion proved to be quite an asset, as anyone who attended can attest to. I am in awe of, not only the pavilion itself….it is quite a building…. but also, of the fundraising effort it took by all or you, our members, for making this a reality. I personally thank each and every one of you that contributed in any way to make this happen. I have always said that when ABATE of Wisconsin sets its mind to do something, they do it right. This building will be used for years to come and is a definite addition to what we are leaving for future generations at our land. Kudos to our members. (Although Hummer pavilion donation numbers aren’t quite in yet, we are just a bit short of having this building paid in full. Please consider buying a brick or dropping some change and donating it to the fund).
