Epic Adventures, One Day At A Time

I sit here staring at these boots. Where have they been? What have they seen? What epic adventures will they go on next? I think about those who have taken those journeys before, the icons and legends of our community, how many of them I’ll never get to meet. and how many are my friends that I call family. I look at the back of the Patriot Of The Year plaque and see my name with some of those legends. I can’t help to think that we’re all on the same team and we’re all legends in our own right. It really is the little things in life that make our lives so great, those little things add up the huge differences. Everything that we do matters. and every time that we try and don’t give up is when we win. and we win together. I may not be much now, but I’m working on it and in the end, I hope that my life has some meaning, and that people will remember not just me, maybe not even me, but what I did with my life. I’ll never see myself anymore than just me and I hope in the end I’m proud of what I’ve done. We walk among legends every day of our lives fighting for the life that we want. Does that make us legends in our own right? Maybe, I don’t know. But I’m never going to stop fighting. As long as I have that family by my side urging me to go on, fighting with me, I’ll still feel motivated to make the changes, to fight for our freedom, to fight for our lives and our culture.

Recently my childhood babysitter’s father passed away. They lived kitty-corner from us and were always on some epic adventure. I saw a question on Facebook ask, “When was the first time you saw a motorcycle?” I couldn’t help but think of them because they always had bikes and I can’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t have motorcycles around. They weren’t ABATE members and didn’t fight for our freedom, but their lives still meant something to me, and I’ll never forget them. I’m sure they’re still off somewhere on some wild epic adventure enjoying the wind in their hair. To me they’re legends.

So, what makes a legend? My guess is it would be when you make a huge impact on somebody’s life that you’ll never be forgotten. So, keep going on those epic adventures, never miss an opportunity, and make your life mean something before it’s too late.
