The Build

If the weather holds out and at this point it’s iffy, by the time you get this newsletter the Cornerstone wall will have been built. I say iffy, because if you live in Western Wisconsin, you know it’s been raining here for a week with the promise of another week of rain, possibly mixed with snow. Yuck!

According to Craft Masonry, they plan on being at ABATE Acres on November 3rd and 4th with their crew for construction. Keep your fingers crossed that they will not have to cancel. Not being a mason by trade, I think they may need dry weather for building, but I may be wrong.

Once the wall is built, we can finally say that the Pavilion Project is done. We will add some things like lighting in the future I am sure, but those finishing touches won’t be part of this 2+ year fundraising project. So, let’s get this wrapped up.

Here’s where we stand. We made the final payment due for the engraved bricks mid-October and barring any odd circumstances, we have paid all of our bills for the build. We are still short + / – $3,000 which needs to be paid back to the Dan Frantz Fund. Initially we needed to come up with a down payment for Brickl Brothers to start the project. At that time, we hadn’t raised enough funds to cover that down payment. The Board decided to borrow the $4,000 that we were short from ourselves out of the Dan Frantz Fund rather than to use our line of credit and pay interest to the bank. They also decided that the $4,000 we borrowed should be paid back into the fund and that’s where we are now. We still owe the Dan Frantz Fund $3,000 of the $4,000 we borrowed.

Region 2J has put out a challenge. At their last meeting they passed the hat amongst their 11 members present and came up with $110 for the Pavilion Fund. Their challenge is to see if any other region can beat the amount per capita that they raised for donation. Way to go, 2J and thank you. Our gloves are off! Let’s Go.
