MRF Rep Report

ABATE of WI’s hard work paid off this year. We had 15 members travel to Pennsylvania to attend Meeting of the Minds and six of us were presenters (thanks John, for being a pinch-hitter!) We shared our knowledge of how a successful state operates and we learned from other states about how we can improve.

Last year, after coming home from Meeting of the Minds and getting knocked off our pedestal of having the most individual memberships, I wrote, “In 2023, WI is going to be gunning for the other Midwestern states, so don’t let your guards down, guys.” Guess what, I have great news. We did it! Congratulations ABATE of WI members—we kicked butt! Here’s the list of hardware we achieved: Most Individual Members, Most Sustaining Members, Top In State Team, Cathy Dial, Becky Zarling, and I were all in the Top 10 membership recruiters in the country, and we brought home a Recognition of Federal Legislation award for our work with Congressman Gallagher to get the Motorcycle Advisory Council reformed. Not too shabby!

We are excited to bring back the wealth of information we learned at MOTM to our state and get others fired up. The Panel on The Intentional Phasing Out of Internal Combustion Engines, direct from industry experts, was eye opening even for those of us that have been paying attention! Check out the full recording on social media. It IS happening!

The Motorcycle Riders Foundation is excited to announce that we now have an Auto-Renew option for your membership. You can use your credit card to pay for your membership and it will email you a reminder before automatically renewing your membership each year. This is great for the members that tend to forget to send in payment or set the notice aside for “later.” It will also save us money by not having to mail out all those notices and reminders.

We have all new marketing materials, along with new membership applications that have the auto-renew boxes to check. Anyone that has membership applications in your possession, please get new ones from myself, Cathy, Dave, Bob, or Becky. Once you get new ones, please throw the old ones out (yes, it’s hard for me to say that) so that we are all using the same format going forward. If you are an Assistant Rep, you can download and print all the new materials from the Rep’s Toolkit. The Toolkit is all updated with the latest and greatest info. Please check it out—it’s there for you to make your job easier.

Lastly, but not least, I want to congratulate Becky “Quiver” Zarling on being our Assistant Rep of the Year! She received this award at the Annual State Meeting in October. Becky has followed in Cathy’s footsteps and taken the bull by the horns when it comes to spreading the word about ABATE and the MRF and signing up new members. This year was her first year walking the entire ABATE Acres camping area during the Hummer to help with the MRF membership raffle. And now you are all trained that when she says, “Give me $20,” you just do as she says.

Stay vigilant, my friends!
