By the time you read this we will have completed the DOT Spring Kick-off, the Safe Rider Training Day, the Safe Rider annual Board meeting, ABATE Officer’s Training, and Lobby Day. It was a busy month. Before February even got started, our first BRC was full, and registrations were coming in for other classes.
Safe Rider also purchased a new bike for the BRC class fleet. It is a BMW G 310 R that we got from Tytlers Cycle in De Pere. Along with a good price, they have offered a special for our grads who may buy a bike from them. This adds to the variety of brands that we offer the students to be able to try out in the class.
Looking into March there are several Wisconsin Motorcycle Safety Program (WMSP) Personal Development Workshops scheduled. Many of our Rider Coaches will be attending, since we are all required to get at least one each year to maintain our certifications. The way the weather is we may be riding to them. Having ridden in December and February, March should be like a summer ride.
If you don’t have your bike ready for the coming riding season it is time to get in gear. Make sure the bike is maintained well, the tires are good, and your gear is ready. Beyond that make sure you are ready. Get out and practice to knock the rust off. Plan to take a class to learn new skills or improve on what you have. We have got to bring down fatalities and crashes or you know who will step in to do it for us if we can’t take care of it ourselves.
Ride Safe,
Gary
